Agathodaimon's "In Darkness" was recorded at the Kohlekeller Studio with producer Kristian "Kohle" Kohlmannslehner.
The album - due out June 28th - will include eight tracks, while a bonus track will be included on the limited edition digipak.
Guitarists Sathonys and Thilo are now offering som insight on the tracks off the album. Check out the track by track break down below.
Thilo: "Adio" is the first song that we rehearsed and composed with the new line-up. Right from the beginning, there was the idea to have a melodic chorus along with double-lead guitars and an aggressive verse with 'fast' vocals. Manuel delivered incredible drumming here! The piano-overdubs in the chorus were created in a late stage of the production - such things can happen if I'm left alone in the studio... luckily everyone did like this element. By the way, this song consists of half English, half Romanian lyrics."
Thilo: The intro of "Somewhere, Somewhen" was composed by Kohle and me during the pre-production. The horror-like character gets the listener directly into the proper mood. A very emotional song, the melodies come directly from the heart (maybe I should do folk music), besides, the lyrics are very melancholic. My personal favourite of this album! Oh, and it's the only song on "In Darkness" that features a classic guitar solo ;) My highlight: When the ride-cymbal starts at the end of the song and Ash cries out like a maniac! (I believe he still hates me for pushing him to the limits there.)
Dusk Of An Infinite Shade:
Sathonys: Actually a song that we had on our very first demo in 1996, and that we tried to re-record years ago. We made several attempts to resurrect the song during the years, but it didn’t seem to fit until now - I’m glad that the band’s chemistry allowed to finally give the song the proper attention. It’s old school and raw at times, but also has undistorted guitars and nice melodies - overall a well-balanced song. Lyrics are 100% romanian by the way.
Höllenfahrt Der Selbsterkenntnis:
Sathonys: Probably the slowest song we’ve ever done. Did I mention I’ve always been into doom metal? Very sad tune, the core still from our era with our original vocalist Vlad. The song has German lyrics, which fit to "Nacht Des Unwesens" from our first album, there are also cross-references to other songs as well. I do like the key change that occurs right when you think "it can’t go slower than this". A perfect song to listen to in darkness, with your headphones on.
