The Rockstar Ramblings: An Ode to New York City

This week a blast; a blast back to the punk Lower East Side neighborhood of New York via Sweden, an AC/DC inspired rocker, and an anti-cure for depression.

Michael Monroe (Hanoi Rocks) has a new album, 'Horns And Halos', scheduled to be available on August 23rd. Recorded at Park Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, the album's first single "The Ballad Of The Lower East Side" has just been released along with a new music video. The video begins with old clips of Monroe in New York City, it doesn't take long for this song and video to take off and show off what he does best: put out a sleazy, catchy sound with a punk attitude. At age FIFTY, Michael Monroe's punk meets glam act is aging well. The lyrics "junkies, pimps, and whores/hallelujah" doesn't mince words and the energy is high...in other words, typical Michael Monroe...

Airbourne's video for "Live It Up", is the first single from their new album 'Black Dog Barking.' This band is part of a growing hard rock genre of bands influenced and inspired (almost tribute) by AC/DC. Airbourne is one of the best in this genre and this video doesn't disappoint. If you like Angus Young guitar riffs, muscle cars, and women dressed as mechanics (presumably into dudes with muscle cars) you will enjoy this one...

"God Does Not Sing Our Song" is the latest video from Kingdom Come. This is the first single from their upcoming studio album titled 'Outlier.' This is dark stuff, dark with creepy, strange special effects. This song has religious (or non-religious depending) messages and depressing imagery. I do enjoy the flock of birds that we see early in the background. They remind me of the ones I would draw that look like a cursive capital M. I made it to the WATCHING THE PLANET EXPLODE message, which was as far as I got. Too much nightmare material here...
