Acclaimed Norwegian prog metal band Leprous is getting ready to release new album "Coal" on May 28th in North America and May 20th in Europe via InsideOut Music. "Coal" was produced by Heidi Solberg Tveitan & Vegard Tveitan of Mnemosyne, and Jens Bogren & Tony Lindgren mixed and mastered the album at Fascination Street Studios.

Leprous has now launched the first album track today via HeavyBlogIsHeavy.com. Listen to "Chronic" at this location or through the player below.

Leprous singer / synth-player Einar Solberg comments about the song: "We're delighted to finally be able to give you the first taste of our upcoming album 'Coal!' 'Coal' is a melancholic, soulful and very dynamic album. Where 'Bilateral' was playful and 'in-your face,' 'Coal' is subtle and floating. 'Chronic' however, is of the more dynamic songs of the album. With a heavy basis, the song pinches a nerve Leproushas never before explored."

I have loved every release this band has had so far, and honestly just about every song they've released on their albums (not sure about Fate) is phenomenal. This song is a little different for them, but after a few listens I am hooked! If this is indicative of their new album's quality, I think that we are in for another treat. I do think the chorus is slightly repetitious, but I highly doubt every song will be like that so I am not worried.

Can't wait until May 28th!! Coal, album of the year!
