Pith Posts Teaser For New "Baptisms Along The Acheron" EP
Pith has released a second teaser for the upcoming EP "Baptisms Along The Acheron," which can be watched below. "Baptisms Along The Acheron" is the follow up to 2012's "Fore" EP and is scheduled for release on D5 Digital / Diminished Fifth Records on Tuesday April 16th 2013. Guitarist Jason Vautour comments:
"This piece of music has been in the works for quite some time (upwards of 4 years), starting as improvisations between myself and other musicians and over time seeing an opening between the themes that stayed in memory and the abilitiy to be interfacing with each other as they are today in the culmination that is Baptisms Along The Acheron. I had to stop myself because I wanted this to go on and on and who knows? Maybe we'll continue the song in further movements in the future?
"We tried to get this done a little sooner but there were scheduling problems and then the drummer was out. Enter Graham Ferguson to the rescue. We recorded the bedtracks live off the floor and the vocals were put on after. This song is out there so as to keep momentum going that was started with the 2012 EP 'Fore'. Expect a full-length Pith album later 2013/early 2014."
As drummers Myles Deck and Chris Gatza have come and gone since the first EP, this time Pith has the temporary talents of Graham Ferguson (Napalm Raid, Hellacaust, Terratomb) on drums and backing vocals.
The recording was engineered by Robert Nickerson (Black Moor) and Nick Jones (ex-Black Moor, ex-We're Doomed!). Nick and Pith member Jason Vautour handled the mix. Artwork and lyrics once again are done by vocalist Brett Campaigne (Cottus, River Nihil, North End Metal All-Stars, Pounding Sand) and on bass is of course Troy Kirker (Hellacaust, Spew, Raw Violence).
