Meridian Splits With Drummer, Posts Teaser For Upcoming Album

Vocalist Jared Dawn of Covington, Louisiana act Meridian has issued the following announcement about the band parting ways with its drummer:

"Robert Barrio will no longer be the drummer for Meridian. This decision was made on the grounds of many different things which I will make available to you right here and now. To keep a band alive, there are certain things you have to do which take more time then most people have.

"I could not ask Robert to throw his teenage life and school away for us. The rest of us are 18-20 years old, and out of school. We will begin touring during the regular school breaks, as well as during the year. And many of you may not know, but Robert is only fifteen years old which means he still has many years of school/teenage life ahead of him. This was my dream when I was young, but I decided to wait until I was out of school to do this and I cannot ask Rob to do differently. I want him to graduate and then make a decision of where he wants his life to be when he has those years under his belt.

"This decision was for no personal reason. Robert is an awesome guy, easy to work with, and a great drummer especially for his age. I told him I refuse to lose a friend over this. Many people may read this and interpret one thing, but this was done out of what I truly felt was right. Robert played a great part in this band and I would never deny him of that. We will play the Sumerian show on January 28th still, and I honestly hope I can see him there. Robert is a good friend of mine and that will not change for me."

Meridian's upcoming full-length album "Paradigm" is due out in early 2013. A teaser trailer is available below.
