Mike Scaccia Dies Of Apparent Heart Attack On Stage In Forth Worth

Band Photo: Rigor Mortis (?)
Rigor Mortis guitarist Mike Scaccia died in the very early hours of December 23, 2012 at the band's gig in Fort Worth celebrating the 50th birthday of singer Bruce Corbitt. Apparently, Scaccia passed out on stage during the performance and was found to have no pulse. No official cause of death has yet to be announced, but it appears to have been an apparent heart attack. Scaccia was 47.
In addition to co-founding Rigor Mortis, Scaccia also played with Ministry (including the latest LP "Relapse") and the Revolting Cocks.
In a post on his official Facebook page, singer Bruce Corbitt commented: "My brother is gone! The only reason I am who I am is because of this man. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't even be in a band. RIP Mike Scaccia! The greatest guitar player I ever knew!"

I had a friend there who witnessed the whole thing. I was shocked when she sent me a message this morning telling me what happened. This happened on Bruce's 50th birthday party, too.
I met Mike the same night I met Bruce--at the Exhorder show. Although I've talked to Bruce much more than Mike, he seemed super cool and very nice. Of course, his guitar skills were phenomenal.
I don't know what else to say other than offer my condolences to Mike's friends, family and band mates.
Oh man, RIP Mike - the metal world has lost one hell of a guitar player. I still remember the first time I heard Rigor Mortis, I specifically remembering thinking there was no way a song called "Wizard of Gore" could have music that was as awesome as the song title.
Pretty crushing considering they were working on a new Rigor Mortis album which I have no doubt was going to stun everyone! I hope they can pull a Voivod and release the album post-mortem.
Very sad, but he died doing what he loved and did greatest - a true legend.
What?? jesus christ...two old school thrashers down in a matter of days??? goddamn...
Maybe the thrash world IS comin to an end?? The 'big shoddy four' shamelessly deciding to go on continuing to implode, whilst the REAL legends drop off like flies around the time of the 'end of the world'??? strange...
and i dont blame em one bit...they went out in style, much better than can be said about most all the rest \m/
condolences to Cyclops and immediate friends and fam
