New LP "Paintropy" From Mesmerize Expected In Spring 2013
Italian metal act Mesmerize, featuring ex-Time Machine vocalist Folco Orlandini, announced that the band's fifth album will be entitled "Paintropy." The mix of the album was recorded at Octopussy Studios last week. "Paintropy" will mark the band's first full length release in eight years (2005's "Stainless").
Guitarist Piero Paravidino commented on the title and concept of the album: "'Paintropy' is a word that combines the concepts of 'Pain' and 'Entropy' and it refers to a chaotic and painful state of mind, coming from the aggregation of negative events or emotions. In turn, this state can cause a reaction of total inertia or the exact opposite, unleashing a downright furious transformation. These concepts will be depicted both in the songs and in the graphics of the album."
"Paintropy" is expected for release via Punishment 18 Records in the Spring of 2013 when the band will celebrate its 25th Anniversary. A small teaser of the cover can be seen here:
Just last week, Mesmerize released the special vinyl picture disc EP "King of Terror," which was dedicated to the comic book character Diabolik, created by publisher Astorina. The song originally appeared on the 2002 Dragonheart Records LP "Off The Beaten Path," and was re-issued with an instrumental version of the track and the unreleased track "Best Place for a Knife" (recorded during the "Stainless" sessions) in celebration of the character's 50th Anniversary this year. The EP is available now in the standard edition, but a limited number edition of 50 copies will be issued on December 1, 2012, which includes a set of 4 exclusive numbered postcards plus an autographed and numbered videoclip storyboard. More information can be found on the band's Official website.
