Rage Against The Machine To Release 20th Anniversary Box Set
Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release "Rage Against the Machine - XX," commemorative 20th anniversary editions of the eponymous debut album from the band, on Tuesday, November 27, 2012.
Formed in 1991, Rage Against the Machine opened the gates of a new boundary-obliterating rock-rap musical alliance with the band's literate and politically-charged debut album, originally released in November 1992. Featuring band members Tim Commerford, Zack de la Rocha, Tom Morello and Brad Wilk, Rage Against the Machine became a critical and commercial success, selling millions of copies around the world while attaining legendary status among alt-rock fans. To this day the album, and the band, remain standard-bearers for uncompromising incendiary rock.
Newly remastered for this anniversary release, "Rage Against the Machine - XX" will be available as a CD in three configurations:
1. 20th Anniversary Edition Deluxe Box Set housing two CDs, two DVDs, one 12" 180gm vinyl LP, one 40 page booklet and two-sided poster;
2. 20th Anniversary Special Edition featuring two CDs and a bonus DVD featuring six tracks in an oversized softpack and
3. 20th Anniversary Edition single compact disc (with three bonus tracks). 12" 180gm vinyl editions--a picture disc and a facsimile reproduction--of the original LP, remastered (no bonus tracks) will also be available.
Compact Disc One of the newly remastered "Rage Against the Machine - XX" will include the original album, in its entirety, as well as three collectible b-sides from era.
Compact Disc Two presents the original "Rage Against the Machine" demo tape. Recorded in 1991 and sold for $5 at the merch table at early Rage shows, the tape achieved mythical word-of-mouth status amongst music fans while helping to seal the band's deal with Epic Records. The 20th anniversary releases of "Rage Against the Machine - XX" marks the first time the entire Rage Against the Machine demo tapes have seen a full official release.
DVD #1 included in the Deluxe Box Set features Rage Against the Machine's historic free concert in Finsbury Park on June 2010, performed as a thank-you to UK fans for making "Killing in the Name" the UK's Number One Single during Christmas week 2009. Also included are the band's groundbreaking music videos plus live concert performance clips.
DVD#2 takes you back to the release of Rage's debut album focusing on live performance from 1991-1994, featuring the full set of the band's first public performance as well as various live, rare clips.
"Rage Against the Machine - XX" will include new liner notes penned especially for the band's 20th anniversary by longtime fan and hip-hop pioneer Chuck D.

I remember seeing these guys on the Battle of L.A. tour and about 300 or so cops were protesting across the street of the entrance of venue. Crazy sh*t, people were taunting the cops, could have easily turned ugly. Always liked thier version of Ghost of Tom Joad, good stuff. Not interested in the box set though.

Obama is way to the right of RATM. Actually, I'm surprised you hate RATM so much but are a fan of LOG. Those guys --hated-- the Bush administration. Everything from 'As the Palaces Burn' through 'Sacrement' eviscerates the actions of our country in that era and the religious and warhawk conservatives who propped Bush and friends up.
Rm: I have hated every president! they are just pawns for their masters wishes. all politicians are that way. within hours of winning obama was already back onto the gun issue with the united nations and their anti-freedom agendas!! RATM was agreat band till they began to support illegal immigration. i dont see them spewing hatred at obama and his admin yet!! maybe its because ratm supports those agendas too!! seems anything anti-american is ok with them now....
as for L.O.G. if they go the same way i will flush them too!! wish i could make the show in a cpl of weeks but o well, cant see them all....
C'mon branded, Andrew Jackson liked to get down in the White House. But seriously, "I hated every president!" was glorious. Funny how you seem pro-America...you playing mind games?
I won't be purchasing since I can barely afford gas to get to work (thank god for AMEX). Starting to sound like a RATM song.
Sure wish I could get his kind of love from TOOL...I digress.
the box set seems pretty cool....i don't think RATM is anti-america...they all live here and pay taxes here...they are anti the stupid actions of our politicos and corporate fat cats...must we drag presidential politics in to the metal forum? Any american political figure worth voting for is currently occupying subterranean housing in the cemetery.
nope no mind games Cozen...the president is just a puppet on a leash and does not represnt the american people. he represents powerful money elite, and nothing or nobody else...so i have absolute hatred for any president, especially when they are pushing forth nazi socialist agendas because they hate america/americans/freedom of choice and blind the cattle with lies and broken promises.
Q: How do you know Xmas is closing in?
A: Metallica releases some sort of something and major labels like Sony Music cleans up it's "not released yet" closet.
Now, onto politics ;)
I dont see how RATM's anti-American.
They have their opinions and views and they're saying them out loud.
Isn't that what "freedom of speech" and being an American is all about?
As for the "Nazi Socialist" remark, actually Nazis were extremely pro German (and as we know somewhat anti-Jewish, but let's not go into that).
The scariest thing - for me anyway - is, Hitler's idea of Germany was actually quite clever in many ways.
Then again, Hitler wasn't even German; He was Austrian like Big Arnold Mr Gov Terminator. Just saying.
And, having followed the US presidential elections a little bit, there's this Deja-Vu vibe to all of it, even for someone non-american like me. Same lies every 4 years.
Same story over here. You know what those clowns are going to say before they say it. Same old blah blah blah every 4 years.
branded, i am glad you liked my little zinger there....i was less than thrilled with the results of our election but what is going on in america is hardly nazism and not even really socialism...what we have in america is simply incompetent old people in suits wasting other peoples money....these ivory tower elitists don't realize how much the world has changed around them and are desperately trying to get us back to good old days that are gone forever...
wolf, you have a lot to learn about politic in this country!!! its ok for everyone but patriotic americans to throw ideas around about laws and the way things should be in this country...patriotic americans are now the enemy of this govt because they stand up for americans and not the anti-american trash that infests it who love obamas anti-american agendas...
""what we have in america is simply incompetent old people in suits wasting other peoples money""
yep, exactly the same thing any nazi mentality would do. take away the freedoms slowly, then disarm them and then murder them..hitler would be proud of the way this govt has gone from democracy to a socialist puppet regime!!
Branded, oddly enough, that sounds very much like my country. Over here our gov is truly dedicated in raising the taxes on everything and cutting our services whevever and wherever they can.
And if you even dare to say the word "immigration" as a Finn in Finland, ohh my goodness the "Racist!" card will swing up before you get to the end of the word. And immigration is only just a one issue in a list of 100.
Strange world we live in. Patriotic people seem to be labeled as racists, ultra right wingers or moronic know-nothing hayhats these days, no matter where you are.
True, I don't know much about the US politics, but whenever I hear about your policies, I always get the "well, that sounds familiar" feeling.
its become the same everywhere...anything thats pro-patriot of any country that the immigrants are invading becomes "racist"...and groups like ratm come out to support the invasive immigrants and spew their drivel at anyone who does not support the invasion....sad days indeed!!
Hey branded, i'm sure at some point back in the 1800's the cherokee, choctaw, comanche, sioux and cheyenne were all b****ing about the illegal immigrants from england, spain, france, germany, ireland, italy and elsewhere in europe...America was built by immigrants from around the world. I am as against illegal immigration and them coming here and committing crimes and sucking up welfare benefits, but to say that every immigrant is a threat to america's national security is bullsh**...most, even the illegals, just want to escape whatever horrible situation is occuring in their own country.
You clearly haven't read much about how the 3rd reich actually came to power. As much as I dislike obama no one in america, especially down here in our region is being disarmed any time soon...gun and ammo sales have been at record highs for the last 4 years. Also, giving billions of dollars of taxpayers money to broke banker a$$holes who made bad bets with idiot investor money and failing companies like GM isn't socialism...its stupidity.
Our nations only hope is for a zombie apocalypse to rouse the greatest figures of american history from their graves to deal with this mess....i have no faith in any human empty suit politico to make our nation great once again
"even the illegals, just want to escape whatever horrible situation is occuring in their own country."
and they go illegally to some other country and turn it into the toilet dumpster they left behind....so they actually are just turning once nice places into what they "fled" from.....
Its easy to be morally perfect in your shoes branded...my dad was an illegal immigrant(became a citizen eventually)...he has worked here his whole life and kept his yard nice and certainly didn't turn our town in to a toilet. You do realize that without cheap illegal, mexican labor the economies of florida, arizona, texas and california would probably collapse...I don't have all the answers to the illegal immigration problem but bashing on hard working dishwashers and hotel maids probably won't help much. Its honestly the least of america's problems...once the economy collapses they will all go home anyways.
This election in the states proves we live in a nation of takers not makers, people would rather receive goverment assistance rather than work a job.
Obama won partially because of that, he sure as hell didnt win because of his economic know how and foreign policy.
Btw, tom morello was quoted as being disapointed with barack obamas first 4 years.
Embrace it branded, this country will never look like Leave it to Beaver. The old, rich, religious white man's order is a twitching, incoherent, unconscious, life-support-bound corpse of its former self. You could however self-deport to Canada... or Mexico. :)
RM, i don't think branded expects america to go back to leave it to beaver(and who would want it to anyways...there was no metal back then lolz). Illegal immigration, out of control welfare spending, and corrupt politicians are legitimate issues in this country...branded's passions and emotions get the better of him sometime...i gave up on politics a long time ago because , to quote the exploited "it doesn't really matter what you do or say...they never f***ing listen to you anyways"
I don't think branded will do well in canada...much colder than NC...and mexico is full of those fajitas and tacos and churro thingies...I think i can sum up this thread with RATM is awesome, politicians, both republicon and deceptocrat both suck...they should all be locked in a room and forced to listen to the most brutal extreme metal MU members can crank at them until they get serious and start fixing some of america's many problems.
"RM, i don't think branded expects america to go back to leave it to beaver(and who would want it to anyways"
hahhahahahahahaha, good one!!!
"I don't think branded will do well in canada...much colder than NC"
i think i would love it up there! lots of snow!! and cannabis friendly too!!!!
Canada does have some pretty excellent plant laws...but it is colder than a witches tit in the winter time...still if you live in a mountainous area you can always go snowboarding. Colorado might be pretty good too...I would love to move there. I'm glad we've all been able to keep it classy on this thread and discuss the issues like gentleman. I am now anxiously counting down the days until the napalm death/municipal waste show in miami on december 2nd...early happy turkey day to my fellow headbangers
ya gotta give rage some credit...the sleep now in the fire video was awesome...they were occupying wall street way before it was cool...cc...my wife was threatening that we would have to move to canada if romney won(she's pretty liberal, i would call myself and independent)...i was like "oh no i'll be surrounded by polite, well mannered people, moose, tim hortons donuts and labatts...and i'll have a pretty valid excuse for never shaving again"
I just went to Canada over the summer. Toronto, Ottawa and Quebec to be precise. Wonderful country, amazing food(Tim Hortons aside), kind and considerate people... If I had to move there for work, I wouldn't hesitate for a second.
On a more related note, the track called "Darkness of Greed" has been released on The Crow Soundtrack way the hell back when. Amazing, catchy, p***ed off studio cut with one of the most memorable Morello solos I've ever heard.
Can't stand it when people say, "If so and so wins, I'm leaving the country". One person is really going to sway the status of your address? If you feel that way, do me a favor, get the f*** out now. In time, another Republican will win the White House. But just because they are Republican, somehow the world will suck that much more? Grow up, get out and make good on your idle threats. I've heard this so much since 08. Notice how most of it comes from Liberals though. Aren't they supposed to be the tolerant ones?

"If so and so wins, I'm leaving the country". Notice how most of it comes from Liberals though. Aren't they supposed to be the tolerant ones?
It only seems like "most of it comes from liberals" to you because you stand ideologically opposed to them. Those you disagree with will always seem -more- capable of poor behavior.
As far as childish liberals, there are too many to count. That said, there numbers are matched equally by childish conservatives and independents.
The pendulum swings. The sooner people realize that the better. Other than 2010, dems have been riding high since the '06 thumpin'... which is about equal to the unimpeded reign of the neo-conservatives from 2000-2006. When the right finds their footing and the left get complacent, we'll again see whimpering, powerless dems and gloating hubris from republicans.
americanpatriot1
Pretty much. Both parties are a shallow representation of what both liberals and conservatives want.
I guess the establishment thinks they have to dilute their principles to make compromise possible and prevent gridlock, or such drastic change that social and economic catastrophe would ensue.
There is a pretty large middle ground that doesn't get much recognition, or both parties would be out of a job...
True branded. Its especially great if you have to stay in a hospital for any length of time. you walk out with no bill! it also helps to have a job with benefits which can cover the cost of presciptions or other things that our national healthcare wont cover. Whats the sales tax in NC branded? Ours is 13%
