"This is the Six," the latest full-length from U.K. act While She Sleeps, was released in Europe during the summer and saw the group embark on a headlining tour, including a dream stop for many bands: a sold-out hometown show. The North American release is now set for November 6th via The End Records, with pre-orders available here.

Now invading Europe alongside Architects, While She Sleeps shows no sign of slowing down the momentum, even gearing up for another tour at the start of the new year with Asking Alexandria. While out on the road, vocalist Lawrence Taylor spoke with us about the band's recent and upcoming touring, shooting a fiery music video out in a farmer's field, and how the band wanted to remove all self-imposed musical boundaries while creating the new album.

xFiruath: You guys just finished up a U.K. tour. How did that run go?

Lawrence: We didn’t really know what to expect, we went out on the road with some good dudes. Bleed From Within and Crossfaith came out with us, and a band called Polar from the U.K. The shows were absolutely phenomenal mate, we had a really good time. We enjoyed seeing people singing along and knowing the words to the new album.

xFiruath: Now that the U.K. tour is over, you guys have already started another run of shows.

Lawrence: We’re out right now with Architects and Heights in Europe. We’ve been on the road for about five or six days now. It’s going really good.

xFiruath: You mentioned your new album “This is the Six.” Can you give me a description of the album for anyone who hasn’t heard it yet?

Lawrence: When we went into the studio we wanted to sort of get rid all the metalcore/hardcore, all those names, we wanted to get rid of all those boundaries and just write music we enjoyed. So we tried to just write an album that flowed out of the band in a musical sense. It was our first time in a proper, professional studio as well. So we had a lot of time to work on sounds and really learn recording in a professional studio. It touches on loads of different things, from family and friends to people we’ve met on the road. It touches religion and the fact that we quit our jobs to do the band and it’s about selfish people we’ve met. It’s a collective idea of what’s been going on with us up until this point.

xFiruath: I saw that music video you guys did for the album’s title track with the burning background. Tell me about that experience of shooting the clip.

Lawrence: We shot that on a farmer’s field just down the corner from where Mat lives. It’s quite a heavy and energetic tune so we thought why not play in front of some fire? So we just built a massive fire, set up all our gear, and we had Mat’s brother working on the video. And that was all that went into it really. We wanted to keep the vibe rolling from the song about people going into escapism.

xFiruath: Are there plans for another music video or single off the album?

Lawrence: We just released “Our Courage, Our Cancer.” But we are thinking of bringing another track off the album, possibly with a video, but we’re not in a mad rush. We’ll see what happens. As soon as we think we’re ready for another one, we’ll get the stuff out there.

xFiruath: When you are on tour and you are hearing your own style of music every night, what sort of things do you listen to on the road to break that up?

Lawrence: Everyone in the band listens to different stuff, it would be hard to nail down sort of one thing. We listen to everything really, whatever iPods in the dock we just listen to it if we like it, whatever genre.

xFiruath: Tell me a bit about your local music scene.

Lawrence: We just came off the headline run and we hadn’t played Sheffield in about two years, so we got to go back home and play a show. That sold out for us, which was awesome, to get the sort of support for your homies if you like. There’s a really positive vibe at the moment, especially in Sheffield and Yorkshire. There’s a lot of bands pushing forward and I’d say the scene is quite healthy at the moment.

xFiruath: What’s happening with the band for the rest of the year and into 2013?

Lawrence: We come off of this tour with Architects and then we have a little bit of time off to chill out, and then we go back out for a similar tour with Asking Alexandria. That’s January and February. There’s a few other bits after. We want to go over to America as soon as possible, but it’s just a case of finding the right tour and seeing what we can do.

xFiruath: Anything else you’d like to say about the new album?

Lawrence: If you hear it and enjoy it, let us know on the social networking sites. Hopefully we’ll get over there to see a bit of the U.S.
