The Rockstar Ramblings: Unplugged Glam

This week a mixed bag of unplugged, budget indie videos, old school glam, and an interesting wardrobe decision.

Former Motley Crue and The Scream vocalist John Corabi has released a video for the song "If I Had A Dime." The song will be featured on Corabi's upcoming "Unplugged" CD, scheduled for release in November in the UK and sometime around February 2013 in the USA.

We begin with a concert promo poster showing Corabi opening for Cinderella. The camera then pans through road crew, fans, and others that have many tattoos, bandanas, or are holding acoustic guitars (in some cases – all of the above). Most of the video is just a recorded live performance mixed with “tour bus” video. My favorite is the shot on the highway which shows two exits, one for Detroit and one for Flint, Michigan. Tough choice, do you want to get shot in the face or stabbed in your back?

The Jet 65 has released their debut EP "Dirty Water" online and has posted a second video from the album for the title track.

I understand the “basement,” “on stage,” or even animation in order to cut costs…but shooting in a backyard just isn’t acceptable in my book. Even the indie movie scenes (slow moving rain drops on the windshield) don’t cover up the driveway in the background. Yes, there are scenes of trailer parks and train cars, but mostly I’m focused on the backyard setting and am looking to find the basketball hoop with a shredded net or Uncle fetching a can of Budweiser out of a cooler…

Swedish glam rockers, Lipz, have released their first single and video for the track "Ghost Town.”

This is definitely a love them or hate them type band (SEE: Black Veil Brides). They bring the gamut that consists of make-up, big hair, neon guitars, fishnets, and leather vests. The logo of the band (in the background) is pretty cool and definitely would have been “notebook worthy” in the eighties. Do kids in Sweden still scribble heavy metal logos on notebooks? If so, I may need to move there…

Finnish rockers Sinner's Gin have released their first ever music video for the song "Back Off" from the recently released "The First Sip of Sinner's Gin" EP.

The drummer is wearing a Jack Daniels tee and the guitarist is in a Motley Crue tee. OKAY, I can live with this, but what in the hell is going on with the lead singers shirt. Did he tie it like that? ANYWAY, there is definitely a punk aspect despite their image (SEE: Hanoi Rocks) that creates a cool song, but man, it doesn’t matter because the whole time I’m screaming at the lead singer to throw on a leather jacket or something…
