Twisted Sister's Dee Snider: I'm Not Sorry

TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider has responded to the recent statements that were made by SKID ROW bassist Rachel Bolan in response to Snider’s recent on-stage rant after Skid Row singer Johnny Solinger’s wife went into labor, forcing him to fly home and therefore making the band miss their July 9th date opening for TS in Gilford, NH.
As previously reported, at the show Dee talked smack about Skid Row saying, "Skid Row had to cancel tonight because their Sebastian Bach imitator that they call "a singer" had to go home because his wife was having a baby."
Skid Row guitarist Scotti Hill then commented on Dee’s remark, stating, “That's harsh and apparently Dee has decided to take sides which is unfortunate. We thought we were good friends. We thought we were tight, but apparently he's just an asshole."
Then, Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan issued the following: "We were really looking forward to doing this show with Twisted. I grew up seeing them in clubs so this had me pretty fuckin excited. As luck would have it, Johnny’s wife went into labor the minute we rolled into the venue. The gear hadn't even been unloaded when he got the call. He had to go, that's all there was to it. His family is part of our extended family and family comes first.
What Dee gained by talking shit about us on stage, I have no fuckin' idea. Especially Johnny being that he doesn't even know him. We (Scotti, Snake and myself) have known Dee for a long time and thought he was a better guy than that but I guess he's not. It's a bummer when something like this happens. If the situation were reversed, we would have raised a glass on stage in celebration. Oh well play the role right?
And to let all of you know (except you Dee) Johnny's wife and newborn son are doing great. Congrats bro!"
The following is Dee Snider’s latest comment on this situation: “Anyone who has listened to me or knows anything about me knows that I am a wise ass and I view nothing as sacred... including myself.
To the Skid Row guys and any of their fans who were offended by my "snide" remark I say this, ‘If you've ever laughed at any of the comments I've made about other bands or anybody (including myself) over the years, you have no right to be offended when I say something about your band. You are either offended by this kind of sarcastic humor (which I can respect) or you accept these kinds of comments for what they are... me being a wise ass. You can't pick and choose.’
And if you are offended by this kind of humor... what the fuck are you doing reading Metal Sludge?!
It is said that there is truth behind all sarcasm and jokes. Well, when you pick a musician as a replacement for a former player in your band and he is chosen because he plays, sounds or looks like the original guy... he's an impersonator. Sammy Hagar replacing David Lee... not an impersonator. David Coverdale replacing Ian Gillan in Deep Purple... not an impersonator. Ripper Owen, Tommy Thayer, Johnny Solinger, the new guy singing in Journey... impersonators. If my honesty mortifies anybody out there... I'm NOT sorry. As author Peter Straub once said, ‘Don't try to be a great man... BE a great asshole!’ Words to live by.
And for the record, "Snider" is not a proper noun... it is an adjective.”
