Nightwish recently split with vocalist Annette Olzon and announced Floor Jansen would be covering for upcoming tour dates. Floor has now posted a statement online about her first days on tour via her blog:

"I am writing to you sitting here in the tour bus with Nightwish! We are heading to San Fransisco. The sun is shining bright here and the scenery is beautiful. I am trying to find words to describe how I feel but it’s impossible to really cover it. I am on a high!

"What do you do when Nightwish asks you to join them on tour? Stay calm and say, well OK….? Or does your heart start beating twice as fast instantly, hands start to sweat and your mouth is unwilling to pronounce words like 'that sounds amazing.' I guess I don’t need to tell what happened to me.

"The time to prepare was scarily short…I packed my bags and left and printed the lyrics into my head all the way over from Amsterdam to America. 15 hours of airplane later I arrived with a jetlag, a full head and the most happy feeling ever. The next day I jumped on board on this bus and the adventure truly began. I was welcomed into the group as an old friend and I felt great instantly. It is now 10 years ago I joined Nighwish on tour with After Forever as their support act. We stayed in touch ever since and that made the whole situation so much easier and smooth.

"The day of the first show we also did a long soundcheck to rehearse the songs. That was the only possibility… You cannot imagine how nervous I was before that first show started!!! Next to nerves my voice was battered by a cold due to all the travels, lack of sleep and airco’s.

"The intro started…..I ran on stage….and all nerves were gone! The music and the guys took me in and so did the audience. What an experience! The excitement lasted the entire show, and way after. When I went to my tour bus bed that night I still had a smile on my face. I felt so happy and satisfied I fell asleep instantly.

"The next morning I woke up, ahum afternoon….in Portland. Show number 2 was there already. So were the first online reactions and the massive amount of press that responded to the news. You must be living under a stone if the news didn’t reach you yet J I even did an interview with the Dutch radio, standing outside the venue in my stage outfit. With a 9 hour time difference…

"My cold got worse and the doctor had to give me some power supplies to help me. Thank goodness for that, they helped instantly and the second show was an amazing blast. The Crystal Hall in Portland is a beautiful venue and the atmosphere extraordinary! Again the audience welcomed me warmly! I am so grateful!!!

"Today we’ll play in San Fransisco! I always wanted to see this city so I hope there is some time (and energy) left for this! I will keep writing to you. And for those who came to the show: thank you for your support!"

Who cares what Floor says. She knew about the firing a long time ago. No Class just like Nightwish. If you like Anette or not.. She went to the Hospital, they left her and put on a show with the girls from Kamelot. Then they have Floor ready to go. For you guys that approve this, if your Boss pulled this crap would you say that you where to much of a Diva... Give me a break you would be upset yourself. You can agree or disgree, nothing will change my mind on how they handled this... Poor. Then I read that Troy had to give his 2 cents... Pour more salt in the wound. I bet Nightwish cancels Pain in November so they don't have to deal with Anette boyfriend Johan. I hope she comes out and signs Follow Me with them.

@ rcyro:

Maybe the guys from Nightwish didn't handle 'getting rid of' Annette the best way... maybe they did. Who's really to say. There's always two sides to every issue.
If my boss 'fired' me in a similar manner, I still wouldn't be p***ed at my replacement.
I don't see where Floor is acting like a diva here. She sounds humbled and excited to have the opportunity. I didn't read where she dissed Annette or even mentioned her here.

For me, I'm excited to hear what Nightwish sounds like with Floor. I really enjoy her voice even better than Annette's very talented vocals - just my personal taste.

Rycro go this 100 percent correct. Which albums sold the most, who fronted those, who is cast aside like some unwanted roadie? In a foreign country? Not the way this should have went, yah everyone is super happy now with Floor, how long will that last. Issues man, they got issues. Time to look at themselves here. Not the girls. After Tarja they should know better. Now they really look like the problem. Not the girls. Anette on this tour was singing with power and authority before she got sick- check mid-september shows. Something is rotten in Denmark. Gotta love the flavor of the month Nightwish fans going for this hook line and sinker though. Classy. What's the most viewed youtube video of theirs? Who sang the vocals on that? Toumas needs to get on the phone with ANETTE and give her the exit she deserves at the movie premiere, this whole Floor thing will look ridiculous with Anette in the film. If you care about Floor, you should be worried about what happens when she starts to get on the band's nerves, cuz she will be out just like the rest. She needs to be careful, and protect herself from being hurt. I wonder if any of them would treat their girlfriends or wives like they do their singers, cuz it sucks, it reeks, and your not kicking out a male lead, some of us think women should be treated a little differently....

Regardless of what I think about Anette (that she was utterly terrible and I'm glad she's gone) or the way she was fired, one thing that should be of concern to true Nightwish fans is the message the band is sending: singers are interchangeable, ONLY the band matters. For the music to be believable, emotional, it has to be DELIVERED. There has to be total cohesiveness, a depth of feeling for each other...Nightwish has proven that's irrelevant to them. If they do decide to keep this Floor chick around for an album or two...well, I hope she knows how to walk on eggshells.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

okay people seriously can you "Nightwish" fans never be happy! you b****ed when Tarja got fired and now your b****ing about this whole Anette situation. sh** happens! GET THE HELL OVER IT AND STOP b****ING LIKE DIVAS!!!
(FYI) NO one even knows the full true story of what happened so until you get your facts straight so SHUT UP (I admit i was sad to see Anette go too)
NO one person is the cause of something like this, this is a TWO sided thing
and Floor is just doing what is asked of her she isnt pouring salt into the wound and she isnt being a diva

Apparently im one of the few true fans out there who is willing to support the band no matter what happens

@bart furley -- Floor Janssen is Dutch, not American or English. "Floor" comes from a word meaning "flower."

@the rest of you -- You're acting ridiculous, as if you know anything about the members of the band or their relationships with each other. The little you see is less than 1% of their interactions with each other. Sure, the announcement is probably full of political crap, but to think you know anything significant about their motivations is delusional.

Ok. I know how to get back at these clowns... Do not Buy the Movie. Watch it on youtube if you have to. Don't give them anymore money. They put a lot of money up front making it, just boycott it... They left Anette in the hospital and went to the show and played it with singers from Kamelot. We have power in numbers. Let them loose money........ YEAH!

Setting herself up for disaster years down the road. You can have a fruitful career Floor doing solo work and be happy. It will take years to undo the emotional destructiveness these hooligans put upon you. Tarja had her husband to fall back on. Anette has nobody.

I have to say it's not been easy being a Nightwish fan. I loved Tarja, then when they got Annette I was all, "this sucks, she's nowhere near as good, this isn't Nightwish." But after a while of giving this "new" Nightwish a shot and appreciating Annette as she was and stopped comparing her to Tarja, I came to accept her and actually enjoy the music. Now this, and I'm sorry, not to say Floor doesn't have talent whatsoever, but seeing her onstage and hearing her- she's like a lesser version of Tarja. F*ck it man. Just let Hietala sing and be done with it.

And Kaitou- really? "one of the few true fans who will support the band no matter what happens." Please. It sounds very cavalier and poetic, and also childish. Grow up. At the end of the day, it's about the music, and if the band's music isn't what you want anymore, you don't have to buy or listen to their sh*t. Don't support what you don't like.

Tuomas'GUT FEELING was right NOT to hire Anette.. the boys voted Anette in. Now, Anette got sick.. Marco asked the crowd if they wanted the concert to go on.. They brought up Kamelot girls in. I bet the boys knew for a while they wanted to kick Anette out and bring in Floor. Floor already knew most of the songs, coincidence? I DOUBT IT! I wouldnt put up with Anette's whining.

I was in the front row in Denver - Tuomas was already out on the stage doing final preps when a stagehand came out and informed him that Anette had been taken to the hospital. It is not true that they "left Anette in the hospital". I do not know if or how many times this has happened before, but professional bands cannot risk being put in this predicament. The alternates stepped in with zero notice or prep time, and they did an admirable job. I hope it is true that Anette's parting ways was not the result of one unforseeable illness; but if this has happened before, the band has very few options.

What everybody seems to miss is the fact that Floor is just a guest vocalist. I was sad when Tarja went and I agree that she was the sound of Nightwish, but I warmed to Anette. She gave the band a whole new sound and I really liked it. I have 2 tickets for the show in Glasgow on 7th November and I pretty much doubt I'll be going. Tuomas is the one with the problem, yeah he maybe started Nightwish, but he's the one who should quit and let the others carry on as Nightwish. The more this I hear about this split, the more the blame points at one person. Tuomas.
