^^^Actually I just went to Amazon and previewed the songs and most of them seem pretty good.
I’ll go have a listen on youtube…
I need a good depressing album with autumn right around the corner.
Sorry, still not goth to me.
John Tavener “Funeral Canticle” is goth to me.
I was VERY impressed by what I heard on Amazon.
They just sort of fell off my map after Draconian.
But back then they, along with so many other bands were the US metal media darlings for a second or so.
But I'll check this one out.
As for John Taverner?
Mostly movie music, Tree of Life had "Funeral" in it.
Children of Men had another of his songs "Eternity's Sunrise"
Dark Sanctuary was a pretty famous group from France.
The only disc I have of theirs is Les Memories Blessees.
Very repetetive, almost chant like.
People love them or hate them.
I find I'm in the mood for them sometimes and others I can't bear it due to the repetition.
Definitely two artists you want to preview first before plunking down the cash.
Funny though, almost all the major reviews for Dark Sanctuary discs are on metal sites.
Too bad they disbanded but they never got big outside of France.
I must get my goth rock and classical goth confused but for me, goth will always represent abandoned cathedrals and creepy pale chicks moaning about death.

Meh, the last album I liked was Draconian Times….was it really that long ago?
I still don’t understand why groups like this are called goth.
Goth is Dark Sanctuary. Strings, choirs and cemeteries.
Maybe I’d call this self-pity rock(?)
