The Rockstar Ramblings: Leather and Boots
A common theme among sleaze rockers in 2012 has been leather, girls, and prison. Which is really the same theme every year and this week features more videos in this category.
The Nasty Idols have returned with the music video for their new single "Kalifornia" taken from their latest album of the same name. The video begins with liberal use of a smoke machine and liberal use of bandanas. The music and video looks like a promo for Showtime’s ‘Californication’, which given the name of the song, is probably intended, or at the very least, a compliment.
There is a Motel (definitely not a Hotel) that looks like an old school Motel a.k.a. “serial killer’s buffet” and there are shots of a girl and also a lot of random gun play. If you like girls and guns and lyrics that promise we will all die in California…well, then you may have helped write this song…
Canada's kings of sleaze, Lust Boys, return for a second consecutive week, for the single "Leather And Boots.” The song "Leather and Boots" can be found on the Lust Boys' 2012 full-length album 'Short Skirts and Tall Glasses.'
I always enjoy the movie/film countdown to videos: 8, 7, 6, etc… After a great “ease into it” intro we are greeted by the band. T-shirts range from Megadeth to Motorhead to Jack Daniels. I suspect each own one of the latter; luckily they didn’t all wear their Jack Daniels tees on video shoot day. THAT would have looked contrived. At 3:51 we have a nice slow down where the band is able to take a drinking break and then we are back rocking at 4:05 through the end of the tune…
UK rockers Jettblack have released a music video for "Prison of Love", the second single from the band's latest album 'Raining Rock.’
So I get it, the band is sitting in the booth (inside prison) where you are allowed to talk to visitors. The problem is that I’ve watched too much television and now expect someone to A) Slam down the phone B) Punch the glass divider C) Hold hand up to glass divider – as does the guest. I usually refer to this as “prison hand holding”, but that doesn’t sound right.
After a slow start my stereotypical prison booth fantasy comes to life. At 2:35 a fist slam…we are getting close. At 3:11 there is screaming into the phone and then finally, at 3:51: phone slamming! Lucky for all of us: no prison hand holding…
