Band Photo: Cryptopsy (?)

As members of the Decibel Magazine Hall of Fame, it seems only natural that death metal legends Cryptopsy have teamed up with the 'zine to unleash a brand new track off their forthcoming self-titled album. In a Deciblog exclusive, the song "The Golden Square Mile," which deals with an unsolved murder that took place in the band's native Montreal, is currently streaming at this location. "Cryptopsy," which stands as a furious return to the band's extreme, tech-minded roots, will be available the week of September 11th to those who pre-ordered from the band directly from the band's website.

Between the album art and the song titles I was worried. VERY worried.
There are two new tracks on Youtube, Two Pound Torch is the other.
I must say that if a band is going to experiment than this is the way to do it. You can incorporate different things without sacrificing the brutality. I've also been reading comments on other sites and fans seem to be accepting of the experimentation. The leads scorch, Flo is insane and the vocalist has blended in quite nicely.
The little jazzy part toward the end had me scratching my head but they make it work.
I'll wait to hear some more before I preorder but this one is shaping up to be a great return to form with some new twists and surprises.
Well done.

What can I say, the song itself destroys. Not even really a hint of anything from the post-NSV era I dislike.

...aaapart from those vocals. I won't say they're bad because they're not. They're just not Cryptopsy, and not really what I'm into. Reminds me of the lows from Aborted's vocalist or a deathcore band, whereas Cryptopsy really needs a deranged gurgler with a lower range.

I guess bottom line is that I'm going to moan about the vocals until I'm blue in the face, but it doesn't really change the fact I'm on my third play through of the song.

Red Skinned Scapegoat might be on Youtube also but I'm too tired to go look/listen now.
I'll check out all three again tomorrow.
The vocals.....I understand where you're coming from but as long as they're not a distraction I can handle it.
That and the super low roar has been done to death (pun intended). I don't mind the new vox. He's not as screamy as he was on the last disc.
