Megadeth's Dave Mustaine Accuses President Obama Of Staging Recent Shootings To "Pass Gun Ban"

Photo of Megadeth

Band Photo: Megadeth (?)

Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, who is no stranger to controversial statements and has repeatedly stated he doesn't believe President Obama was born in the United States, has now said he believes Obama staged the recent shootings in Colorado and Wisconsin to "pass a gun ban." Video of Mustaine making the statement can be viewed below. Dave says:

"Back in my country, my president is trying to pass a gun ban, so he's staging all of these, these murders, like the 'Fast And Furious' thing down at the border, Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there, and now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple."

I know Dave Mustaine had his conspiracy theories, but even for him this is an all new low. Dave's rhetoric is conspiracy propaganda, and how convenient he does not back his assertions by factual evidence!

This is akin to what I witnessed at a local post office where some bible thumpers compared Obama to Satan and Hitler and spewed out hateful scare tactics like "If you vote for Obama, WWIII will happen." Shame on you Dave... you owe another apology!

No one is banning fire arms, it would be supremely counter-productive.

RememberMetal put it quite well, it is true the Government will set some disgusting stuff up for its own benefit, these two shootings are obviously not included on that extensive list though.

This is just what happens when you let people buy weapons, end of story. From time to time someone will just break, and when you have access to guns at that point in time sh** is going to go down.

Now he just crossed the line, insulted all of the deceased's surviving families, and made enemies with just about everyone in the whole damn world. You have to remember that Dave has gotten himself involved with that Alex Jones goof.
I don’t know how many of you are familiar with this guy but he’s predicted the end of America for years now.
The Super Bowl would be the target of a terrorist attack according to his Alex’s source “Super Bowl Bob”.
Really credible huh?
That never happened.
Our banks would crash beyond repair, loaves of bread would cost into the hundreds of dollars, people starving in the streets.
He’s been preaching that one for the last twenty years….still hasn’t happened.
UN tanks will be rolling down our streets, NATO troops will be sexually assaulting American’s right in the streets.
You simply CANNOT make this crap up.
Fundy Xtians are drawn to people like Jones who are no different that people like Oral Roberts. (Give me a certain amount of money by a certain date or God will take me home.)
And people fall for it, hook line and sinker.
I can’t help but laugh at the Megadeth song “Hook in Mouth”…….that’s pretty much what Megalife has become, especially the two Dave’s.
I guess what really scares me isn’t the fact that people like Jones and Mustaine aren’t convinced the world is ending, it’s the fact that they act like they WANT it to happen.
My grandparents were right, the world WILL end. When they plant you and stick a gravestone over your rotting head.
Just remember, one of Jones’ biggest supporters is Charlie Sheen…do I really have to add anything to that?

I also don't believe for a second that BOTH extreme sides of our political divide won't spin this to their advantage.

It's sad when we only have two 'realistic' choices in the electoral process, and our vote is often cast not for best candidate but against the worst one. We haven't had a good presidential candidate since 1960 - arguably 1956.

I would love to take bets with everyone here on whether or not Obama attempts to "take away our guns" if elected this fall. He will not.

The gun issue is even more settled than the abortion issue, which will not be overturned in a federal manner either. These are hot-button, knee-jerk, high-emotion issues that both sides use to drive up the vote.

Laws do change and evolve over time, one could make the case that 'some' liberals are (in snail-fashion) trying to disarm us, but it would take decades, certainly more time than Obama will have. The gun lobby are so paranoid, vocal and powerful that they would out-maneuver or steamroll any perceived threat to guns.

I'm a card carrying far-left liberal but I too respect and enjoy the right to bear arms and would be among the first to stand up for that right. Guns are inextricably woven into this country's heritage and economy and they aren't going anywhere.

Personally, I'd rather hear as little politics as possible spouted by musicians, left or right wing. It's their job to write songs, not give me advice about what or how to think. And I certainly won't be taking advice from someone who failed rehab seventeen times, yet acts like he's smarter than everyone else. Bringing politics into music, especially those as controversial as Mustaine's, succeed only in dividing people at the end of the day, whether it be via political differences, ideological or whatever. In the grand scheme of things, it'd be much better to have a conversation along the lines of, "Do you like Megadeth?" "Not really." Why's that?" "I just can't get into the vocals/I find the music boring." than "Do you listen to Megadeth?" "No, I find myself unable to listen to them because I find the ideas and opinions espoused by their singer to be offensive/ridiculous/different to mine." "Well, up yours too, you Commie bastard."

When people see a band or musician for their beliefs, the music itself takes a back seat, which is a shame because sometimes it means you're missing out on some good tunes. For example, politically I'm very different from Ted Nugent, but that doesn't stop me from blasting the f*** out of "Snakeskin Cowboys," or me saying he's one of the best live acts I've ever seen.

This is why I try and avoid posting articles about politics or religion, they're just not worth falling out with people over.

During a concert in Singapore, Mustaine remarked that President Obama was trying to pass gun control legislation.
“So he’s staging all of these murders, like the ‘Fast And Furious’ thing down at the border, Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there, and now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple,” said Mustaine, before adding, “I don’t know where I’m gonna live if America keeps going the way it’s going because it looks like it’s turning into Nazi America.”
Mustaine has since been savaged by numerous media outlets for his comments despite the fact that the Fast and Furious program, which saw the Obama administration put guns directly in the hands of Mexican drug cartels, has led to the murders of hundreds of people.
However, Mustaine’s suspicion surrounding the recent mass shootings was echoed by Gun Owners of America director Larry Pratt, a respected voice in the gun rights movement, who himself shared his own suspicions about the ‘Batman’ massacre during an interview with Alex Jones last month.
Pointing out that some 400 Mexicans have been the victims of “premeditated murder,” along with U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry, as a direct consequence of the Fast and Furious program, Pratt told Infowars Nightly News, “Now we have to admit that this is something that maybe our government is capable of, this was only 12 people murdered, they were good for 400 in Fast and Furious.”
Mustaine’s suspicions about the Colorado and Sikh temple shootings are not without foundation.
Police audio, eyewitness testimony and other material evidence clearly suggests that alleged shooter James Holmes had an accomplice.
Eyewitnesses described two shooters, noting that one of the gas canisters was thrown from the opposite side of the theater to where the killer was standing. Eyewitnesses also described the killer talking on a cellphone before the shooting and then standing in the emergency exit and beckoning someone else over.
More than an hour after Holmes was detained, police officers were still hunting additional suspects, having been told by eyewitnesses that there was more than one shooter.
At 1:16am on the police audio recording from the scene, an officer states, “Talking to people making statements, sounds like we have possibly 2 shooters, one that was in Theater 8 seated, another one that came in from the outside into Theater 9. Sounds like it was a coordinated attack.”
“Every unit, possible 2nd shooter still at large… Keep the media away from them,” said another officer.
A second gas mask different to the one Holmes was wearing was also found hundreds of feet from where Holmes was arrested at the opposite end of the theater car park, along with additional items.
Similarly, in the case of the Sikh temple shootings, there were multiple eyewitness reports of additional gunmen.
Speaking with the Associated Press, an eyewitness stated, “Between ten and ten-thirty, four white males who were dressed darkly, dressed in all black clothing, came in and opened fire on our congregation.”
Temple member Amardeep Kaleka, whose mother and father were injured victims in the shooting, also told WISN that his parents said there were “multiple shooters, multiple people” and that the attack was “very well coordinated.”
Kaleka added that his father saw “multiple shooters of caucasian descent.”
An ITN News report also quoted the niece of one of the temple members who said, “An unknown number of gunmen had walked into the kitchen of the Sikh temple and opened fire.”
Another man at the scene told Sky News, “I think they had multiple shooters.”
In addition, the Chairman of the temple stated that the day before the attack there were a “few suspicious men seen on Temple premises,” again clearly suggesting the involvement of more than one person.

Those are some extreme accusations, but I tell you what: I've heard even more extreme stuff. Since I'm not an American citizen, it's hard for me to keep up with everything that happens in the US, but from what I've heard up till now, both sides have their points... the whole thing is just so clouded that I wouldn't dare to call Mustaine insane, because I definitely see where his views come from. At the same time I wouldn't say that these hollow accusations from him and others are the best way to get further in the situation. I just think it's a shame when people just turn away because he said something strange or provocative.

...and I don't know what this has to do with christianity, because some people here were discussing about that.

Kids, you're mixing up so much stuff again, it's not even funny to read. So what does his religion have to do with his statement? And hellrat, no means to offend you but that last comment was extremely macabre.. I agree with you that it's strange to see him talk about that stuff fully out of context for 4 minutes in the middle of a set (except if it's tuning break or something), but still.. dude, do you actually read what you write there?

Well Nikki Sixx, he said Mustaine should apologize to your great country for suspecting the government of crimes, it seems he just blindly appreciates every move of any elected party no matter what.

Come on guys, governments in the world always had secret operations like Afghanistan in the cold war that, in the contemporary time, noone was able to clearly identify. Only in the future people were able to gain evidence for the true meaning of those missions. Who tells you that it's any different now with contemporary events?

Don't understand me wrong, the event was tragic and I do not agree with Mustaines hollow accusations (even though I personally agree that Fast and Furious as he mentioned obviously was a really bad operation, even though he mentioned it out of context).

Am I the only one here who is so appalled by all the comments hating on the man just because he spoke his mind? Sure, the comment was not very logical - in Singapore he would've already been in jail for an analogical comment on their government, but still.. people might say things in anger or insecurity and I might say that even though I do not agree with him, I understand his view more than some ofthe furious comments on this site, that is insane to me...

Feorge...I have NO idea what youre talking about man, come again? ;)

as for the CATTLE, ah yes! A colleague and I were fishing a beautiful stretch of the Rio Brazos with a couple clients...we had stopped around noon to prepare a nice shore lunch on a lovely sedge grass strip about 20' wide between the water and the hill... a herd of cattle grazed placidly just downriver from us.

The coals were just about ready, when along comes this especially dopey lookin red angus from upriver, bellowing wildly, apparently having just discovered that all its friends had given it the ditch...the half panicked bovine's fool eyes popped out of its mule face when it beheld our obstructing position in between itself and its herdmates...it hemmed and hawed and appeared to consider its options...remarkable!

The river is about 15' across and maybe a foot deep, and there was a primary stock trail about 30 yards up the grassy knoll above us that the cows and elk use when the river is flooded in the springtime. Well, the portly red wench finally decided that the only way to get back to her clan was by coming right through us, evidently not remembering that it had hiked that trail and crossed that river probably hundreds of times in its career. So on she comes. Well, no goddamned cow is gonna charge down my jolly picnic, so I ran her back, and tried to get her to go around. Nope, damn thing tried again, and again. I finally had had about enough, and as I'd just split an avocado, I pulled the pit off my knifeblade and winged it at the idiot beast.

She jerked her head up when I threw, and that pit nailed her---THWACK!!---right between the eyes! I felt horrible...ah hell I groaned, I didn't mean to hit er in the head! Damn cow!
My buddy looked over at me and shrugged his shoulders, "Its cool dude, it probably already forgot"

Indeed, it seemed it had! After lurching about in a circle (you see, it was bound by that menacing creek and the evil craggy mountain) it stopped and beheld our camp once again with buggy cow eyes, as surprised and mystified as it had been when it first dicovered us...it was as though it had utterly forgotten the whole episode. It hemmed and hawed and weighed its options once again (remarkable!), and then finally decided its best bet was through the picnic :)

It took all four of us to get the stupid frikken cow across the river, where it seemed to immediately forget where it had been going, but remembered that it was hungry, and plopped it dopey donkey snout down, feeding voraciously...FURTHER away from its clan than it began from

Anywaym I've encountered WAY to many humans that possess similar, eh, 'qualities' ;)
