Inaugural Mayhem Festival Cruise Canceled
Band Photo: Lamb of God (?)
The inaugural Mayhem Festival Cruise that was to take place this December has been canceled. The cruise was to set sail on Friday, December 7th, 2012 from the Port of Miami, FL and travel to the Bahamas, returning to the mainland on Monday, December 10th.
Bands confirmed for the cruise included Lamb of God, Machine Head, Anthrax, Hatebreed, Suicide Silence, and Kingdom of Sorrow, Gojira, Periphery, Born of Osiris, Battlecross, Otherwise, Girl on Fire, Anti Mortem, and Gypsyhawk. Mayhem veterans JDevil (Jonathan Davis of Korn) and DJ Starscream (Sid of Slipknot) were also to perform full DJ sets each night.
Here's the official statement from the organizers:
Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have been forced to cancel the Mayhem Festival Cruise. If you purchased a cruise package, you will be automatically refunded to the credit card you used to purchase. If you used a prepaid card or gift card to purchase the cruise, please contact Rose Tours for your refund (215-663-8800). If you used a credit or debit card, you will see the credit within the next 2 to 3 weeks.
We are also offering anyone who purchased a cruise ticket a lifetime complimentary pass to the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Summer Tour. You will still receive your cruise refund in addition to the lifetime pass to the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Tour. This pass is valid on any tour date beginning in 2013. Details on getting these lifetime passes will be announced shortly.
We apologize for the cancellation.
We'll report on the details of the cancellation when they become known.
Of course, Barge To Hell sets sail the week prior to the planned Mayhem Festival Cruise and also goes to the Bahamas.

I am crushed!. After the month long stomach ache and anxiety of Randy (innocent) Blythe's imprisonment, I was thinking that it would be okay that my ticket for the show in September with Gorgira in Atlanta wouldn't hurt so much, at least we will get to hang with them on the boat. I am not trying to be selfish but I have been going to see Machine Head and lamb of God since they started touring, I saw Violence 5 times back in the day, but you never get to hang with the bands, maybe next to the bus. This cruise was bigger than any festival for a number of reasons, meet and great, poker with the bands, etc. A lifetime pass is a great gesture but will never replace the opportunity to hang with, Suicide Silence, Gorgira, Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Jonathan Davis, Sean C, and two of the most impressive metal bands ever (of course not forgetting SLAYER) Machine Fn Head and Lamb of God. I AM CRUSHED.
#3 - the band photo is chosen automatically based on the most viewed band of the related bands. It looks like Lamb of God has surpassed Korn though, because I'm seeing their photo now.
#5 - I don't think lawn passes are bad. I never pay for pavilion passes for the big shows I've been too (mostly Ozzfests). I enjoy roaming the lawn area, getting some sun, and moving between stages during the shows.
This is just f*****g retarded. I hate it when concerts are canceled. They'll probably also give you s*** for seats for the lifetime pass. Watch as they kill off all the people with lifetime passes. That would be both brutal, and unsuprising. I try to cancel as little concerts as possible, because as you see right now, it pisses the fans the f*** off. I hate to curse this much, but I'm both drunk and angry at the constant cancelations of bands. I will find a way that I will never have to cancel a concert, even if its the last thing I do. At least you weren't expecting a metal woodstock. Hey, that's a good f*****g idea, metal woodstock. We can hold it in the UK. I love being drunk as f***.
I bet its the global economy going to the dogs again...i remember in 08 or 09 Kat Von D was doing a national tour of her musink festival with motorhead and social d...it was cancelled and I was super p***ed....luckily Slayer was amazing on their summer 2009 tour....cancelling shows and fests and cruises sucks big time...being a metal producer must be a pretty hellish job these days....trying to eke out a living promoting loud crazy "evil" music disapproved of by society...All that said, barge to hell looks much cooler anyways...not that i can afford it...hope there are some good shows landside before they depart or when they return

Goddamnit Jack, ya always make me chuckle :)
Cheers Limey \m/
I don't think I'll be taking any Cruises anytime...I feel right at home in the crags and amongst the wild and woolly beasties of this good planet, but the open sea, or any big water, scares the fvckin sh!t outta me...nah, thanks ;)
