The Rockstar Ramblings: Evil Eyes

This week a classic new vs. old video showdown; on one side we have Aerosmith, the other side, The Last Vegas. Aerosmith is famous for a career that spans four decades and now Steven Tyler’s (yawn) work on American Idol as a judge. The Last Vegas are a new sleaze rock band that put a unique spin on their videos (and songs) by incorporating horror and humor when possible. SPOILER ALERT: No losers here today!

For Aerosmith fans, the wait is over. Aerosmith has officially released “Legendary Child”, the first music video (and single) from their upcoming album titled ‘Music From Another Dimension.’

The video wants to be a movie and the beginning plays like a movie trailer. Then we cut to a girl in roller skates (Is she the legendary child? Is she a new roller girl?). The girl has a box and is on the run. Cut to the band, the song has a “Walk This Way” feel mixed with the typical Aerosmith ballad chorus they have mastered the past twenty years. Steven Tyler is wearing goggles pushed up onto the top of his head. Because of the goggles he looks a little bit like the guy Mystery from VH1’s “The Pickup Artist” reality show. Anyone else embarrassed to remember that show? Me neither. Tyler is sticking with what he knows: scarves on microphone, loose clothing that moves as he shakes, and cheesy lyrics. Getting back to the girl…still on the run, at 3:55 there is a major takedown of a girl. I have watched this takedown three times and am still not sure if the “clothes line” move or the rainbow bottoms worn by the girl getting leveled is more awesome. Let’s just call this one a tie.

The end of the video takes a strange turn when we meet a character that looks like a lovechild of Darth Vader and Lady Gaga. The “roller” girl takes care of the Darth Gaga love child and then we are at the end of the video. The girl goes to open the box and I have the same feeling I get when I watch Vincent Vegas open up the Pulp Fiction suitcase. BULLSHIT! To be continued…

The video “Evil Eyes”, the first single from The Last Vegas’ upcoming album ‘Bad Decisions’ was released this week. The album, ‘Bad Decisions’, will be released August 28.

Chad Cherry, the lead singer of The Last Vegas is carrying a camera and is climbing up floors in order to find an ideal location to spy, play “Peeping Tom”, or inspect windows of others to ensure safety. We are not here to judge and will accept any interpretation. For those that have tried this…anyone? Me neither. Anyway, let’s play along. The whole idea is a little bit like Russian roulette. You may get the jackpot, or you may get a pillow fight between two overweight (or at least “husky”) dudes. That is exactly what we find in this video.

On one hand you get suit guy in a disco style designed bedroom receiving a lap dance from his stripper like girlfriend. Next window over, you get the two dudes in a pillow fight. THEN it gets disturbing…first, there is the girl working out by lifting weights with one arm while stuffing her face with chocolate with her free hand. NOW, there is no way to prove this but I was predicting a “furries” scene and YES, we have it. For those unfamiliar with furries, well, you have a busy day of Googling ahead of you. Even more horrifying than the furries is the scene where an individual (two views and not positive if male or female) is mostly naked and fighting with a vacuum. That just seems unnecessarily dangerous on a number of levels. The video ends in typical The Last Vegas horror fantasy fashion with Cherry in a dark room looking creepy as he goes through all of his photographs.
