The Rockstar Ramblings: Sex Slaves Cool Ride
This week we have new videos from two bands that take the best from the past and inject youth into their sound. First up are Black Tora and then its New York City underground favorites, Sex Slaves.
Texas rockers Black Tora have released their music video for "Never Enough", one of five songs soon to be released on the band's upcoming 'Raise Your Fists' EP.
The video starts with a split screen -- which is okay, but I’m more old-school and like my camera shots one at a time. (Yes, my therapist does fall asleep during our sessions.) The song, “Never Enough”, is a straight up sleazy rocker and I can tell why this song was released to promote their upcoming EP. The black and white vs. color for videos (this video moves back and fourth between the two) is a little like the DH vs. no-DH rule and again, usually comes back to how “old school” you are. For comedy sake, it would have been nice to slip Alice into the middle of the 9 square split screen, but it works nonetheless. The scream at 2:32 is pretty awesome and we are treated to a 25 square split screen to end the video. I’ll spare the readers another sad obscure Brady Bunch reference and allow everyone to just move on with their day and enjoy this great song...

New York's Sex Slaves have unveiled the music video for the song "Cool Ride", the first single from the band's latest album 'Call Of The Wild.' The Sex Slaves new album continues their blend of hard rock infused with punk, sleaze, and insanely catchy hooks. Filmed on location in various European countries, the band's latest music video was shot by Johnny Richie and edited by bassist Del Cheetah.
The video starts with the band “on the road” and then bumper cars? Okay, two quick observations. First, this song is REALLY catchy and second, apparently Elvis style sunglasses are back in style…FINALLY! Two questions: Is this van their actual transportation as they tour Europe? Was there any discussion on whether to include the “sing along” portion at 2:12 or did everyone just say FUCK IT at once and go with it? The ending of the video shows the band leaving the amusement park. The image brings me back to when I was eleven years old and hated to leave the amusement park. Looks like it’s time to schedule another appointment with my therapist…
