The Rockstar Ramblings: Badass or Not?

This week a look at up and comers The Treatment and Wildside Riot with new videos that beg the question: Is this badass?

First, The Treatment is set to release their debut album, 'This Might Hurt', on July 17, 2012. The band has already received critical acclaim around the world and secured a spot as the opening act for the KISS/Motley Crue upcoming tour (poorly titled ‘The Tour’). The new video from 'This Might Hurt', "Nothing To Lose But Our Minds” has been released to support the new album.

The video begins with the band in the studio. There are gothic girls’ playing violins and it appears that the band invited their friends down to the studio to watch them rehearse, uh; I mean, shoot a video. There is a large snake (BADASS) and an old-school television (NOT BADASS). At 1:27 a strange scene where “the wig” comes off… and then more gothic looking girls; even the booth engineers go heavy on the look (BADASS). It’s a slow song, should play well this summer, when being played on stage as everyone is settling into their seats to watch Motley Crue. OVERALL rating: NOT BADASS

Rocky Shades' Wildside Riot has released a brand new video for "Wildside Riot", the first single from the band's upcoming 'No Second Take' album. England's Wildside Riot is a new five-piece melodic sleaze band fronted by Rocky Shades, the charismatic ex-lead signer of Wrathchild. Joining Shades are Joss Riot (lead guitar), Jimmy Gunn (rhythm/co-lead guitar), James Crofts (bass) and Gaz Wilde (drums).

I love it when a video starts and there’s a moment when you aren’t sure if this is a music video or a Showtime After Dark series. The female cop could easily play the lead in ‘Busty Cops 3’ and the fact that there is a strip search scene (BADASS) makes me think this has already happened. Question: Does Rocky Shades where sunglasses at night? The answer is probably yes (NOT BADASS). During the morning of the video shoot did the guitarists (wearing bandanas) and Shades (in his shades – pun intended) call out the drummer for not wearing any cranium accessories? Also, what’s up with the close up video at 3:30? (NOT BADASS.) Is it just me or does the end of the video (Shades baton knocking with Busty Cop walking by) make you confused. OVERALL rating: SEMI-BADASS (thanks to the Busty Cop)!
