Either way I seem to be the type who keeps going back to metal bands like a battered wife.

You and me both....
How many years have I crawled back to Metallica hoping for another Puppets?
Slayer for another Reign?
I've given up on a few bands.
Samael....They'll never replicate Ceremony
Napalm Death. They'll never do another Harmony Corruption.
Carcass, Deicide, Obituary.
I'm pretty much done with all of them unless I REALLY like what I hear on Youtube first.
I'll even give Morbid another chance, Youtube first naturally. :)
There's a few I've dumped but you really got beat me good to get rid of me.
LOL you sound Southern.
Napalm....hmmm...nothing has really done it for me since Harmony, Vision Conquest is still one of my all time faves. That album just has SO many memorable riffs on it....
Fear, Emptiness, Despair is where I really lost interest.
Why bother hoping these groups will put out a good album when so many other bands are.
I am Southern, just a different country :P I thought they declined a bit with Fear, Empitiness, Despair but really picked up around Leaders Not Followers 2/The Code Is Red... In general nowadays though, I find I don't get excited about any band releasing a new album, even if I really like them.
Oh golly, I did done thank thet yoo wuz startin to talk like un o mah cousins there, Mista Oz man....next thing ya know, you'll be sayin "y'all" :) :)
As far as the battered wife fandom goes, man, don't I know it! My ears have been beaten severely by some of the atrocities many of the Greats have ended up releasing over the years...yet, there are only a small handful of bands that are utterly dead to me and will NEVER be afforded another chance, and Brian happened to mention almost all of them :)
But can't fergit ol' Davey Sh!tstaine and the Megadumpers....Rust in Peace was a LONG time ago, no?
Man im crossing my fingers that the old Cryptopsy's back! Im one of those suckers that keep giving chance after chance. I usually pre listen on youtube also, before i commit to buying. I did buy Unspoken King at thier Summer Slaughter date, plus a shirt. As far as Napalm Death, thier last four albums or so are as brutal as thier early stuff! They show no signs of slowing down;they actually get better! Utilitarian is excellant! Better than thier prior album,i think.
