Blo.Torch Win Dutch 'Battle Of The Bands' Competition

Dutch death metallers BLO.TORCH came out victorious in the "Grote Prijs van Zuid-Holland" competition finals Friday night (March 19) "after showing the jury, the audience and the five other finalists what we're made of," according to a post on the group's web site. "Besides direct placement in the regional finals of 'De Grote Prijs van Nederland', we won an extensive prize package, including money prize, photo session, promo cards, studio time, 500 maxi single pressings + booklet, and playing on several festivals."

As previously reported, BLO.TORCH recently completed work on their sophomore album, "Volatile". The follow-up to 1999's "Blo.torch" (Wicked World) was produced by Hans Pietersen at Excess Studio in Rotterdam, Holland and is tentatively scheduled for release this spring through an as-yet-undetermined label.

BLO.TORCH are among the acts confirmed for the Up From The Ground Open Air festival, set to be held August 27-28 in Gemünden/Steinwiesen, Germany. Also scheduled to appear are MALEVOLENT CREATION, KATAKLYSM and DEW-SCENTED, among others.
