Goatwhore Seeking Fan Donations For Transportation Costs
New Orleans, LA, black metal outfit Goatwhore has set up a donation page at Chipin.com to help pay for the rent of a new touring vehicle for the upcoming nationwide Summer Slaughter Tour this July through August.
The band issued a statement via Chipin: "We are embarking on a 7 week long national tour later this summer that will take us all over the United States and parts of Canada. Whilesome people may think that being active in the music business and going on tour may be financially prosperous, that is not always the case. Our goal is to be able to rent a new and different touringvehicle for this upcoming tour. Our usual mode of transportation is a 15-passenger van which gets roughly 9 mpg pulling our loaded trailer. This new vehicle will be much more comfortable and take some of the stress of the road off of us. More importantly, it gets upwards of 20 mpg pulling a loaded trailer. This will account for considerable fuel savings as well as a reduction in emissions due to the vehicles clean burning ultra low sulphur diesel engine. We are inviting fans to chipin to our cause to be able to feasibly rent this vehicle from mid-July to late August."
Goatwhore is currently on tour in Europe with 3 Inches of Blood and will be touring Australia with Impiety and Ruins before heading out on the Summer Slaughter Tour.

Hi,I was gonna be a JERK but..RI0 is right times over the last 6 years to now have gotten worse for bands. Sad to say I'm big into metal but..I do know alot of metal heads who won't fork out like 50 bucks for a ticket cause there too cheap lol. I'm not big into this band but..hope they do get a ride of some sort but..a lil tip for this band is GAS IS cheaper in the USA than in Canada so..to HELP a bit when you know your coming to Canada make sure..you FILL up before you enter into Canada. Our gas prices are kinda band now but..will GET worse yet. Also a lil off topic this band is not Black metal sorry.
i'll probably buy some merch at summer slaughter and throw them a few extra bucks...when gas prices go up no one wants to come all the way down to south florida because it costs so much to get back to the rest of the continental US....I can't believe a band thats signed to metal blade is short on gas money
ya, i agree with R1O as well...
but in the same sense, this band has been around for about 6 yrs, they are on metalblade, i know they tour there azzes off...but something isnt right...
idk if anyone has seen them live but theyre solid live...
my regards to the band, i plan on going to summer slaughter so i will definintly pick up some merch...
but in all honesty, for a band like this, on a label like metalblade? its disgracefull
Lou,im sure tour support they recieve from Metal Blade is minimal. They probably get a certain amount of CD's cheap which probably helps keep them out on the road. I see quite a few shows a year, ive literally witnessed a "signed" band pass around a donation box to get to the next show. I'll be seeing them on summer slaughter also, will definately pick up some merch from them. Ive bought thier albums, merch, thats how i support. Ben Falgoust is super cool, usually spends alot of time working his own merch booth.
It's to bad that a good band like Goatwhore has to ask fans for donations just so they can tour but it goes to show that most metal bands make their music for the love of it and not for the money. If Goatwhore or just about any other metal band [death, black, metalcore,etc...] just cared about geting rich then we wouldn't have much of a metal scene at all. Hope it works out for them because they put on a good live show.
This is pathetic, why should anyone give them money? If they can't manage their money well it's their own damn fault. Plus when I saw Goatwhore last the singer went up to a guy in the front row with a Burzum shirt and said "Burzum f***ing sucks", if that's how they treat their fans why the f*** should they get free money?
bunch of douchebags i think...seen em in pitt a few years ago opening up THEE AMON AMARTH...nobody was remotely interested so the lead singer proceeded to say fuk the penguins in between songs, which only made things worse for them. thats something that doesnt fly in the steel city.

What many ppl don't seem to know is that tour support is recoupable and essentially is just a loan. The band has to pay back 100% of the sum from future royalties. It's entirely possible that Metal blade has offered $8000 in tour support, but that Goatwhore rather would want donations that they don't have to pay back.
It's probably more a symptom of what other bands are having to deal with, rather than any outright financial mismanagement or thoughtless cash grab. I doubt they, or plenty of other acts that aren't considered fiscally successful headliners, are basking in accoutrements from their label. Not that it would be smart to bite the hand that somewhat feeds them by whining about it online.
But by putting their request out there, while not providing a little more relevant background -- I thought these guys owned a van years ago, maybe they've have difficulties getting good vehicles since that wreck years ago -- they'd better expect a range of reactions. Most fans aren't pulling in six figures either.
this band does not impress anyway, dare i sound like a troll. how they are signed is quite confusing and probably nepotism because honestly i know way more people who are bored than swept away by their stuff. they score these amazing reviews from all the sites however. odd.
Dont worry atx. Im not contributing to the "van" fund either. Ive done my part, bought cd's,merch, thats the extent of my support. They're not holding gun to anybodys head in contributing to thier "touring vehicle" fund. Sh*t,i wish folks would contribute to replace my '02 Ford Expoder;gets horrible gas milage, and is hardly a "green" vehicle, emissions wise.
atx, pertaining to him insulting a patron for a burzum shirt, obviously the singer was using sarcasm which obviously you do not understand. or you are just making this up. he is a close friend and guarantee he meant no malintent... he is not that type of person. so if you feel the need to b^&#h bout something go to the bathroom and look in your pants loser...getalife

Sign of the times,im afraid. Bands are literally forced to panhandle to go out and tour, its only getting worse. Hopefully they are able to get the ride they need;i'll be supporting them buy buying some merch, they always sell some cool stuff.
