The Rockstar Ramblings: European Invasion
This week, a look across the pond at some new videos released by ’77, Hard Riot, and Europe
First up is ’77, a group of Spanish rockers with their video for “High Decibels.” It takes oh, about five seconds before you realize how much this band sounds like AC/DC. The video itself is a “live” performance with occasional random shots of the band having fun in the studio. If you like Bon Scott era AC/DC and can look past the almost exact sound then you will enjoy this.
Next we head over to Germany where we find Hard Riot and their video for “No Surrender”, a single from their upcoming album Living on a Fast Lane. The start of the video looks like a Volkswagen commercial and then it looks like there may need a body to be buried. I make this assumption only because the drivers are wearing tightly fitted leather gloves. I could not be more wrong, NO, the drivers have a band (Hard Riot) in the back and via subtitles tell them they must prove they are a band. If this sounds strange, just wait. The band splits up and is then sent running through the woods. During their journey they come across an evil tiny dog, a hot girl who likes to befriend her male guests by straddling them and then biting, and an evil double. The highlight of the video for me was when the guitarist was running from a vehicle driven by a masked man and didn’t think until the last second to just jump off the side of the road. If you like weird videos that leave you thinking, “Hey what happened to the crazy vampire girl who lives in the forest and gives guys grinding lap dances before turning all vampire on them!”, well, then this video is for you.
Finally, a trip around Europe would not be complete without a video from the band, Europe. The video is for “Not Supposed To Sing The Blues” from their upcoming album Bag of Bones. This is a straight forward video that takes place in a house where I suspect scotch is the drink of the choice and tobacco pipes are abundant. If you like chandeliers, fireplaces, and keyboards you should check out this video.
