Abazagorath Bumps Up Self-Titled EP's Release Date

New Jersey black metallers Abazagorath have bumped up the release date for their new EP to February 27th, 2012 through NoVisible Scars Records. A press statement from the band states that "Due to things moving at a faster pace than expected, and the EP's recent appearances among blog sites and other file sharing locations, it was decided that it would be best to release the EP at the end of this month. We can absolutely assure the metal community that our first stand alone release since 'Sacraments' will deliver beyond exceptions and be well worth the wait!"

The band had originally planned on an early April release to co-incide with a new batch of tour dates across the Eastern U.S. Recorded at BS1 studios in Philadelphia, PA and engineered by Chris Grigg (Woe), the new mini album contains 5 songs and runs for just over 20 minutes.

"The new EP will be one of the most complete and varied USBM offerings to date," commented the band, stating that it "is a calculated evolution/progression of the band's sound that draws the best elements from all past releases yet introduces new dimensions of darkness, technicality, melody, and brutality previously unseen in Abazagorath. It will have the dark atmospheres of 'Tenebrarum,' the fierceness of 'Sacraments' and the mature songwriting of the split with Bloodstorm, and will contain elements of many of black metal's countless microgenres and regional scenes. It was written to not just be a great mini album, but to be one of the best ever seen by the American Black Metal scene, and we have complete and utter confidence that it will be one of the best representations of just what black metal in this country is capable of!"

Abazagorath formed in 1995 and helped pave the way for USBM to be the unrelenting force it is today. The band released two full length albums "Tenebrarum Cadent Exsurgemus" in 1997 and "Sacraments of the Final Atrocity" in 2004, but was plagued throughout its existence by constant lineup changes and periods of inactivity. The last release from the band, a split with Phillly black metallers Bloodstrom, was released in 2008. The band suffered a long hiatus starting in 2006 that ended in the Summer of 2011 with a tour across the Mid-Atlantic United States and the recording of the bands newest effort.

Abazagorath is currently had at work on the band's next full length album, "The Satanic Verses." Catch the band live on the following dates:

April 7th Silver Springs, MD (TBA)
April 14th The Lost Horizon Syracuse, NY
April 20th The Loft New Brunswick, NJ
April 28th Middle East Upstairs Cambridge, MA
