Burzum Reveals New Album Title, Tracklisting And Artwork

Burzum, the one man black metal band spearheaded by infamous musician Varg Vikernes, has announced that a new studio album, entitled "Umskiptar" (Metamorphoses,) will be released this May through Byelobog Productions. The album was recorded in Grieghallen Studio in Bergen in September 2011. All the lyrics on the album are taken from a Norse poem named, "Völuspá." The English translation of the lyrics can be found in Vikernes' latest book, "Sorcery And Religion In Ancient Scandinavia." You can check out the tracklisting and artwork for the album below:

Varg released first three albums (also "Aske" EP) year after year, but he couldn't do it with "Filosofem", for obvious reasons. It's normal for Burzum.

From memory, "DSEV", "HLTO" and "Filosofem" were actually written in a very short period of time and released years later.

Wasn't a fan of Fallen but I think this might be interesting. He seems to be following the Bathory phenomenon: from raw black metal to something more viking and creative. I'm not a fan of the middle era of Bathory but his latest works were great. So maybe the same thing will happen with Burzum...
