Howard Jones Comments On Parting Ways With Killswitch Engage

Killswitch Engage recently announced the band was parting ways with vocalist Howard Jones and seeking a replacement. Howard has now checked in with the following statement:
"Well, I guess I will shed a little light without going too deep. As some of you may know, I've had a pretty interesting couple of years to say the least battling with some personal issues. One of the low points being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes that went unchecked for years. The rest of the band stuck with me through it, and to be honest they are the ones that kept me going. The whole experience definitely put a scare in me.
"Recently we've all been in writing mode but somehow I couldn't get excited about the new album and all the touring that would go with it. The guys saw it before I did. In hindsight I now realize that my heart wasn't in it.
"I have had an amazing decade with KSE. I love Justin, MikeD, Joel and Adam for hanging in there and standing by me no matter how bad it was. I have so many good memories, and those are the ones that I will keep. Will I be involved in music again? Sure, I have been in bands for a little over half my life, can't stop now. Until then, get the new KsE album, it's going to be good. Thanks everyone for letting me try to entertain you, and I wish myself well in my future endeavors. Gone fishin' Howard"

He always struck me a decent guy and one of the only voices that could follow Jesse Leach after the early KSE albums. Infact the only albums I have of theirs are the Remastered Ferret album, AOJB and Howard's first album with them. I liked that album but not enough from subsequent albums to pick em up. I wish Howard (still like that Roadrunner United track he did with Robb Flynn) and KSE the best however.
I speculate that the reason KSE let Howard go is that Howard has been battling heavy alcoholism for the past few years. I was in rehab with him in Antigua April 2010 to May 2010 which is the reason behind his short break from the band then. While he successfully completed the program while I was there he was dealing with some pretty heavy issues, both physical and mental, as a result of severe alcohol abuse. I love Howard to death and I sincerely hope he gets back on the wagon right away. This is life and death my brother! Peace!!
It is the truth and I know it should be confidential, but addiction is life and death and it appears that despite making gains in treatment Howard is taking steps backwards now. You are only as sick as your secrets. I wish that Howard would be brave and tell his fans the truth. We will all support him 100% and I think it will help him in his recovery. I just dont wanna bury another great person to this disease.

The article quotes Howard's explanation as his heart wasn't in it and also mentions the complications of Diabetes (which has well publicized side effects like reduced stamina and energy). It does mention "battling some personal issues" - prefaced with "without going too deep"
Exhibit B:
Some anonymous poster speculates the personal issues are alcohol related and includes an unsubstantiated story about meeting him in a recovery program coinciding with the approximate timeframe in 2010 when he was off the tour. The poster then takes a quantum leaf in logic by connecting his fable from 1-1/2 years ago with the current situation.
Sorry, I will side with Exhibit A:
Baysin, you have zero credibility. You have no proof to back up your allegations.
Additionally, Howard didn't want to go into details. Otherwise he would have. Your actions of trying to expose his secret are disrespectful at best and most likely constitute slander. If you had any respect at all for Howard, you would respect his right to privacy. If you really want to help him, get in touch with him personally since you seem to be such good friends. Making unproven accusations on the internet does nothing to solve the problem you claim he has.

Weather it's true or not I'm making a mental note of this because if it turns out to be true I'll remember where I randomly heard it first lol.
I do wish he'd just come out and say those personal issues. Of course you'll always have people who'll talk sh!t but the majority will be loving a supportive for him. Especially for him.

I just think it's a sh*tty way to blast somebody,whether itssc true or not. If your gonna post dirt,attach your real name to it. Thats why the internet sucks,people can just throw up random allegations,defame someones character,walk away scott free. Who knows what the issue is,and really,who cares. Still want that Blood Has Been Shed reunion,ive said it for the third or fourth time now.
