Drowning Pool has announced the band is parting ways with current singer Ryan McCombs. The Texas band, which has worked with 3 singers in its 10 year career, issued the following statement:

"We have always been a band who has gained success despite having multiple singers...maybe we suffer from reverse 'lead singer's disease," said C.J. Pierce. "Changing things up has not always been easy, but the band has become re-energized time and time again. We are looking to find a new singer who will give both us and, and most importantly our fans, the new adrenaline shot they deserve." He went on to say, "We do wish Ryan great success in his future endeavors." McCombs, who had been part of the band since 2006, replaced singer Jason Jones, who joined Drowning Pool following the tragic passing of Dave Williams.

Drowning Pool is currently looking to find a suitable replacement for McCombs. In the meantime, the band has already begun writing for a 5th studio album in the group's hometown of Dallas.

Drowning Pool is C.J. Pierce – guitar/ vocals, Stevie Benton – bass/vocals, and Mike Luce – drums/vocals.

The loss of Dave was very tragic and to replce him well just will nver be the same. Both of these singers were talented but at the same time could neve hold a candle to Stage and his showmanship. Good luck in yur search DP hope you find a worthy crooner!

Here's the thing........ this band went from being a really great aggressive metal band to a sort of ok "hard" rock band. And don't get me wrong because they were great at Ozzfest and they had a great pop from the crowd (sorry I'm speaking in wrestling terms if anyone here understands "pop") but this band has definitely lost it's edge. They need to do actually what they said. Re-energize the band.
That means get a singer who will bring back the aggression this band had on it's debut. The type of aggression that makes Bodies one of the most recognized metal songs around. This band has just lost it for me.
But.............I'll still give the new material a listen regardless. Cause I didn't enjoy their set at Ozzfest even though Kingdom Of Sorrow destroyed the P.A. before they got to play. Took away from the music cause they were turned up so loud...............end of rant............

I agree, ZMA. They need a singer who would bring back the early days agressiveness but not a metalcore singer but a Groove Metal singer.

Wait, I don't care.
Drowning Pool went the way of Mudvayne, if you ask me...

Dude was way better in soil. Drowing pool with Ryan sounded like a soil project. U can never replace dave. He was one of the true great front men and died way to fvcking soon. Good luck with the new singer will be anxious.

I agree with Z. They were really good at Ozzfest a few years back. They seem to cling to that one huge hit,Bodies,it seems to define them. Thats the only album i have by them,so i really cant consider myself a fan. I wish em luck in thier vocalist search, trying to recapture the magic they had with the original singer.

Tiv. Yea a groove metal singer would be a good idea. Sort of in the vein of Randy Blythe but he'll also be able to sing certain clean parts.

R10. Dude they cling to Bodies like it's their life force. The only other song that they had was "Step Up", and maybe "The Game" if you're into wrestling.

I agree with Dream, I think they went in a Mudvayne kinda direction. This will be the deal breaker for me with this next singer.

I liked the 3rd album - 1st with Ryan - but that last one was just terribly boring. Sad to see him go, but can't say I appreciated the direction the band was going anyway.

I've only ever heard two songs from this band that I've liked - 'Bodies' and 'Step Up', and even those have grown awful with age. I guess I just don't "get" this band.

Agreed Z! That might be the guy eh? Psythe,i think you'd have to see 'em live. Like i said,i got the first record,im hardly a fan. But they do put on a great live show, imo. Trust me dude, theres alot of dated sh*t,genre styles come and go; especially in the 30 years ive been listening to metal. Its all good! Whats in today,is out next year ya know? This trendy dub step, djent, stuff i have a difficult time coming to grips with ya know? Who knows how that stuff plays out over the course of time.

I only really bother going to see bands live that I atually already like. I'm probly missing out on some good experiences there, buuuuut.... If I don't like the song on the studio album, I don't expect that I'll like it live just coz its louder lol

I agree with you, vulgardisplay. Pat Lachman needs to be singer for Drowning Pool. Big Name & he has a huge range almost like Dave but his own. It be neat to hear Pat Lachman singing Bodies in it's original form.
