Band Photo: Slayer (?)
In a recent message posted online by Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, he mentioned briefly that the American thrash metal legends have begun work on their next album and that guitarist Jeff Hanneman looks to be contributing. His post reads as follows:
"The PHILM album is in the mixing stage.. I can't wait for you to hear it! Looking forward to releasing it on Ipecac Recordings and doing selected shows around the world. Slayer is writing a new record. Jeff is still recovering and doing better."
More information will be revealed as soon as it becomes available.

@Brokenface...
Yes, King had a feud with Flynn (who HASN'T he had a feud with?)
But that was during "The Burning Red" and "Supercharger".
When "Empires" came out they made up.
@R10....the song with Ice T was from the movie "Judgement Night", song called "Disorder".
See why you should be nice to old people?
Look at how much irrelevant knowledge we have. :)
Either that or I just spend WAY TOO MUCH TIME READING ABOUT THIS CRAP.
Sincerely..."In desperate need of a life and a drink" (BrianMN)
:P
Yeah Slayer and Ice-T did a song called, "Disorder" for the Judgement Night soundtrack which was actually three songs by The Exploited rolled into one.
Yes, Kerry King criticised Machine Head for bring rapping vocals into their music, but that's probably because they'd made two good albums without it and at the time Flynn began using the technique, rap metal was very popular. So he probably saw it as selling out rather than hating it for the rapping itself. Also he did "What We're All About" with Sum 41 which was basically a rap song, not to mention he appeared in the videos for both that track and "No Sleep 'til Brooklyn." He knew full well what he was doing.
Slayer has sounded like the crappy songs off Diabolus since....well, since they recorded the crappy songs on Diabolus ;)
same recycled crappola, ya know...its cool, but not THAT cool
they should do a collaboration with the Ghost of 2pac Shakur...blow fvcking LouLu straight to fvcking hell :)
Quite a few things need to happen for the next Slayer album to be a success.
Honestly, I really enjoyed “God Hates us All”.
The next two were merely passable.
1 I wouldn’t mind them going back to Slagel.
I’m wondering how much he really had to do with that early Slayer sound.
2 Hanneman and King REALLY need to start collaborating again.
A lot of the dual guitar stuff was lost when they moved apart.
3 King has been recording all the main riffs and Hanneman just doing leads.
That really screwed up the dual sound they had on early albums…stop it.
4 Araya is sounding more and more like Sam Kinison with each album, he needs to go back to his early material and relearn how to scream.
5 Lyrically, as another person pointed out, the well is pretty much dry.
A lot of diehards would scream “sell out” but at this point in their careers, who cares?
Explore some different themes lyrically.
This group has more good albums in them but they, like Metallica need to go back to what made them good in the first place.
Yea,you guys are probably right. I did enjoy God Hates us All,but for the last 20 years they've released consistantly average material. Nothing awesome since Seasons imo. Some of thier mid to late 90's material i havent listened to since it came out. A change in recording practices, and a differant producer could be the spark they need to release another classic. Time will tell.
