Joey Belladonna Struck By Security Guard At L.A. Show

Anthrax singer Joey Belladonna was involved in an incident at the October 22, 2011 show at the Club Nokia in Los Angeles as part of the band's tour with Testament and Death Angel. The incident occurred as the band performed "Metal Thrashing Mad." During the performance a fan ran onstage and was subsequently speared by a security guard taking out Belladonna in the process. When the pile was separated and the fan ejected, Belladonna was not too happy with the guard. The scene was captured on a fan video and you can check it out at the 1:38 point in the video below:

Hate when this kinda crap happens. Belladonna seemed to have things under control, bouncer went in with a football tackle, bowling the damn singer over. Everyones still probably edgy because of the Dimebag incedent. Metal Thrashing Mad sounded good though, cant wait to see this tour Nov.11

agreed R10....the whole dimebag incident puts everyone on edge. unfortunately that is how it is going to be from here on in. and id rather see joey with a broken a$$ then a gunshot wound. its so sad that this is how it has to be now. by the way, i believe you are from my neck of the woods in worcester, ma R10. im not going to catch this tour because i have to see exhumed, goatwhore, and cephalic carnage a couple nights prior.

Yea Joey had that sh!t down. He went for that dude as soon as he saw him jump up. And why did he tackle him like he was protected the president. It's just Anthrax lol. If anything the band would beat the sh!t out of that dude before he could even pull a gun heh heh.
They sound pretty tight though. If I see them in Nov, I know it'll be a good show now. If I was Joey I'd definitely ask why that guard felt the need to tackle haha.

I was going to go to this show on Saturday but opted to see a different show for a couple of reasons. The major reason was the club that were playing at, for reasons of distance and reputation. I have not been to this Nokia Theater but but have been told it is borderline fascist and makes the House of Rules seem laid back.

Hmm... it does look like the guy was running directly towards Joey, so yes, I guess the security guard was thinking of the Dime tragedy and just being overly cautious.

Considering everybody's alright, I has to be said, That is such a Spinal Tap moment! :D

Nice form tackle. That dude should play some football. I think I recall Ted Hendricks saying that he liked to tackle the entire backfield and throw people out until he found the one with the ball.

hey why can't we stage dive anymore? oh wait... its not the 1980s. shame these classic bands need to play in huge clubs with d!ck security... it'd be cool to be able to stage dive to all this thrash the way it was ment to be... thrash metal concerts these days aren't what they used to be. Has anyone else seen those old Anthrax videos of constant insane stage diving...

I'm glad that here in Vancouver we have two venues that directly ask bands if they want to allow stage diving (Biltmore and Rickshaw Theater) and if the bands are ok with it then the shows get crazy like they should be.

I saw Anthrax in 1993 at the Lone Star Amphitheater in Houston. The opening bands were Quicksand and White Zombie. Anyway, the crowd was already hyped and moshing during White Zombie, but they really got crazy when Anthrax played. Anthrax stopped the show twice during the concert. One of the times was due to the fact that a security guard tackled a fan on the stage. He hit him so hard that the guy did not get up for about 30 seconds. The band stopped in the middle of a song, and Scott Ian was furious. He screamed into his microphone that there was no excuse for that sh*t! Most of the fans just want to jump on stage and back into the crowd. The tragedy with Dimebag has made security a major concern, but the guy who killed Dimebag was not in the crowd. Every metal concert I have attended checks all concert attendees for any illegal weapons.

The security dude probably heard Anthrax's last album and was waiting for a chance to exact revenge.
