Metal Videos To Get You In The Halloween Mood Part 2: Giving The Devil His Due

Somehow humanity managed to avoid the apocalypse yet again yesterday, but just because a zombie Armageddon or nuclear holocaust didn’t occur doesn’t mean anybody has to get out of the proper Halloween mood. We already took a tour through some of the most over-the-top and bombastic horror themed videos last week, so this time around we’ll head into a bit darker territory. Today let’s give the devil and all his children their proper due…

Opeth – “The Devil’s Orchard”

One of the best cuts off Opeth’s latest album “Heritage” and among the best clips in a history of less-than-stellar music videos from the Swedish titans, “The Devil’s Orchard” may be a tale of the devil ascending to rule the world while bringing madness and terror in his wake. Or it might be about a dude in bell bottoms who only listens to vinyl going on a crazy acid trip. But whatever, it’s got the vibe of an old school devil flick, and that’s exactly what we’re looking for.

Solstafir – “Pale Rider”

The members of Solstafir have been known to refer to themselves as “Anti-Christian Icelandic Heathen Bastards,” so it’s a pretty good bet the dark lord is going to pop up in their music every now and again. Other than being a scapegoat for anything bad that’s ever happened at any point in time, just what exactly does the devil do in his spare time? You can find out in the clip below, which features a cavorting Lucifer from the 1907 film "Satan s'amuse,” set to the track “Pale Rider.”

Danzig – “Am I Demon”

I feel like maybe the goat face and horns should have answered this question for him, but apparently poor Danzig is conflicted about his heritage. Is he human, or is he demon? Check out “Am I Demon” and you decide!

Gorgoroth – “Carving a Giant”

There’s goat’s heads, burning inverted crosses, crucifixions, and naked bodies writhing in blood – so basically this clip is essentially what any given black metal live show should be.

Cradle of Filth – “From the Cradle to Enslave”

For the demonic, the macabre, and the disturbing, one generally need look no further than the average Cradle of Filth video. “From the Cradle to Enslave” is the cream of the crop, with creepy midgets, demons, beheadings, unwanted tooth removal, and even a full-on shot of vagina. Sure, there’s a censored version on the net, but why the hell would we want that? Check out the full version in all it’s bloody, nude glory below and watch the British terrors descend into the depths of hell.

Cradle of Filth's "Her Ghost in the Fog" video needs to make round 3. Other than that I can't think of anything else.
