The Rockstar Ramblings: CRASHDIET /Generation Wild
Swedish rockers, Crashdiet (Simon Cruz/vocals, Peter London/bass guitar, Martin Sweet/lead guitar, and Eric Young/drums), are reissuing their 2010 Generation Wild album and will include an extra track named Hollywood Teaze. They have also created a video (see below and note the one stripper pole scene just to make sure you are paying attention) so what a perfect time to look at the first video, the title track from Generation Wild that was deemed too obscene for MTV.
The video begins under a street. A man is tied to a chair and has a ball gag in his mouth. A girl slowly approaches and circles and for a second it looks like a strip tease of some sort as she straddles the man from the front. NO STRIP TEASE ALERT! She punches the man in the face. Next she removes the ball gag, blood flows from his mouth. HOWEVER, it is okay because the girl has a bucket of water which she throws on the man. So far so good, nothing too OBSCENE given we know MTV doesn’t run away from S&M type videos.
Oh, now I see. The power drill makes an appearance. Here we go. The man is still tied to the chair when the girl approaches and begins drilling into his stomach. Blood is shooting out everywhere. MORE WATER PLEASE! We are now entering “tribute to Eli Roth and Hostel” territory and it’s already clear why this video was banned. Then comes out the blow torch… Luckily she is only using the torch to light a cigarette. Nothing is better than a good smoke after a blood-filled torture scene.
Watching the next sequence I think I speak for many when I say NOW SHE IS PUTTING ON SAFETY GLASSES? She then pulls out the saw (Sawzall) and begins going to work on the legs. It’s hard to read the reaction on the man’s face, but I believe he’s asking politely for the blow torch vs. the saw. Throughout this torture porn video the camera pans over to a man in full hazmat like suit. He is obviously a seasoned veteran and doesn’t want to be bothered, electing to read a book instead. Back to the man being tortured, he has been sawed into pieces and placed into a bag that the woman (who is now covered in blood) hauls away. On the way we see that there are other victims lined up, waiting their turn. BUT, it’s okay…
The last scene shows the woman (the same drill/saw/blow torch woman) in a business suit sitting behind a desk. Was it all an innocent dream? Sure it was. A disturbing daydream to say the least: placing this “it was a dream and never happened” behind the movie American Psycho and before the evening soap opera Dallas. Note: I never saw an episode of Dallas, but know that there was a main character named J.R. which is unsettling to me.
