Is...is that a no-growl setlist? I hope they mix it up some more when they come to Europe later this year.

Indeed. To evolve into the current construct of Opeth is fine but to disregard 20 years of material in the live setting... Ackerfeldt is almost punishing the fans of his metal output. Seems a bit odd and kinda harsh.

Drove two hours to see this set in CT...all I can say is I'm glad I've seen them before. They sounded absolutely perfect, but hearing no growling really is disappointing..

Oh, and I didn't get to hear Credence either

An entirely no growling set list....with not a single song off "Damnation." And one of the tracks is from the God of War soundtrack. Echoing Deathblooms here, glad I saw Opeth live while it was still Opeth.

That is odd that there isn't any Damnation songs in the set list. I would have at least expected 'Closure' or 'Windowpane'. 'Closure' would have fit well, I would think.
I'm digging the new album, but the setlist is kinda 'meh..'
Leaves me less dissapointed that I don't have the funds to drive to their Dallas or Kansas City dates.

Not even Demon of the Fall? I'm wondering if I should even bother to see them tomorrow night. No refunds on the ticket, but this show is probably going to be ridiculously boring.

when i saw them in austin on the 4th, they did play closure. although given the selection of songs they did, i wish they would have played hope leaves. it was still an amazing show.

Awfull setlist. No growls means no money from me. Very sad with the new opeth same route as in flames. Maybe we will get 1more bloodbath album with growl?

so, by your logic, you'd stop listening to enslaved because they no longer play straight up black metal or sing all the lyrics in norwegian? look, if you want straight up death metal, go see morbid angel, or obituary, or cannibal corpse. the real genius of opeth is that they don't put limitations on their music. plus, they never claimed to be a death metal band, so how have they sold out?
