The Rockstar Ramblings: The Bach is Back
Sebastian Bach (ex-Skid Row) is back with a new single and video titled “Kicking and Screaming”. This is the first single from his new album (by the same name) due this fall. Given Bach’s history of entertaining videos (“18 and Life” anyone?) this was definitely worth a look.
The video starts with Sebastian doing this weird eye rolling thing. I will assume he is going for a demonic look, but it comes across more as a migraine look. First impression: Sebastian looks great. In the era of HD a lot of eighties and early nineties rockers look the part of weathered rock star. Bach’s steady diet of red wine, reality television, and the occasional joint seems to be working for him.
Back to the video. The band is performing in a warehouse that looks suspiciously similar to the warehouse used to shoot “Slave to the Grind”. Bach’s vocals are sung away from the band, against a grimy-discolored wall. There is also a hot girl in black, against a similar looking wall, but they are not together. What is going on here? Did Bach miss a flight to shoot the video and decides to shoot his part of the video at an airport? FYI this is what the walls look like at LaGuardia airport. The girl? Some random hot girl Sebastian is trying to get to join the mile high club?
As far as the song goes Sebastian is killing it, that is to say he is staying within his range. If this is what we can expect on the new album then I believe fans of Angel Down (his last solo effort) will again be pleased. For those not impressed with Bach’s solo efforts up to this point: Don’t hate the playa, hate the game!
1:18 Sebastian does this weird shimmy. It’s a little uncomfortable to watch. 1:26 The girl has a mischievous grin, she liked the shimmy, go figure. 2:48 Hot girl sultry look. I am now starting to wonder if she was a daughter of one of the Robert Palmer video girls. Now we are switching back and forth between Bach against the dilapidated wall and Bach with the band. 3:01 Bach extends his hand. 3:02 She likes this. 3:15 End of the video, Bach points off in the distance (apparently at the girl) as if to say, “See you in first class!”
