Former Deep Purple Keyboardist, Jon Lord, Diagnosed With Cancer

Former Deep Purple keyboard player Jon Lord, one of the group's founding members who left in 2002, has announced that he has been diagnosed with cancer. A message from Lord reads as follows:
"I would like all my friends, followers, fans and fellow travelers to know that I am fighting cancer and will therefore be taking a break from performing while getting the treatment and cure. I shall of course be continuing to write music – in my world it just has to be part of the therapy – and I fully expect to be back in good shape next year.
"God bless and see you soon, Jon."
Lord's webmaster added: "May we also, at Jon’s request, ask if everyone could please respect his need for privacy so that he can spend time with his family (and his music). Thank you."

^um...shutup.
I hate it when people assume youre an idiot because your word choice may not have been 100 percent accurate. Remission, cured, who gives a damn? His point still stands; if we dont know what kind of cancer, we dont know his chances of living and/or enjoying a normal life.
And second of all, a man has cancer, and you start an argument. f*** you buddy.
Jon Lord is one of the founding fathers of hard rock/Metal music.....too bad the hall of shame hasn't reconized that fact..... I wish you a speedy and healthy recovery Jon, and never stop writing your music!!!! Saw you gents on the "Perfect Strangers" tour.....it was truly one bad a$$ show.
N.P.........Knocking at your back door.......Deep Purple.
Yea, what do I know, I'm only a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. and yes, many cancers can be put in remission or completely removed before they metastasize. I call that cured. or is that too big of a word for you?
skin cancer =/= pancreatic cancer

As a example to illustrate the correctness of Post 3 & 11,
My wife had AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia) and underwent 5 different rounds of high powered chemotherapy and a Bone Marrow transplant. It was a rough road for about 7 months, but she is in great shape now and shows zero signs of Leukemia. That was in 2003. I'd say she's cured.
Also, hope the best for Dr. Lord and that whatever cancer it is, that it was caught in the early stages.
Since he does have a Doctorate, maybe he can help with the treatment. :)
"I have a fevah... and the only prescription is more Hammond Organ."
The last time one of my classic rock heroes announced he was battling cancer, he was dead a year later. RIP Dio.
I really hope Jon Lord can pull through - he's such an amazing musician.
And I agree with Fvck A Name - trolls who pick up on and tear apart how people word their sentences (especially in this case where Southern Bastard actually DID know what he/she was talking about and just (rightly) didn't think it was worth making sure his/her post was immune to pedantry) really ruin internet fora for me.
