AC/DC Gets Its Own Version Of Monopoly

In the ever-expanding universe of themed Monopoly boards, rock legends AC/DC have now gotten their very own version of the game, which can be seen below. The band also commented on the game:

"There's Gonna Be Some Rockin' when you experience one of the world’s best-selling bands teaming up with the world’s most popular board game bringing you the ultimate AC/DC experience. The AC/DC Collector’s Edition of Monopoly celebrates The Rock N Roll Dream with some of the greatest rock music of the 20th century and beyond. This completely customized game features the band’s most popular albums and locations including Black Ice, Stiff Upper Lip, AC/DC Lane and more, allowing fans to build their own AC/DC empire. Includes 6 custom tokens: Cannon, Bundle of Dynamite, Bell on Fire, Lightning Bolt, Angus’s School Boy Hat, Stacks of Cash."

The AC/DC edition comes after the release last month of a Metallica version of Monopoly, with full details available here.

Gotta be the most overrated band in the industry. If you want to hear every AC/DC song ever written, just listen to one with Bon Scott at vocals and one with Brian Johnson at vocals. Thats all there is.

without bands like AC/DC to pave the way, half or better of what is considered Heavy Metal would have never made it out of their garages and basements.

I admit that they might not have a wide variety in their style of play, but what they do they do well. Besides, Angus can play a blistering lead all the while rolling around on the floor. That has to count for something!

I do miss Bon Scott though. Bon had soul, Brian just sings.

So I'm gonna have to dissagree on 2 things and I mean no offense at all to anybody but, I dont' think AC/DC is overrated at all, In my opinion I believe these guys have earned everythign they've got, I think these guys are the hardest rockin' band out there, and I don't mean "heaviest" just hardest rockin, but that's what I think haha. Also we all loved Bon but I have to say i dont' think Brian just sings, that guys out there rockin' it as well and he's doing plenty of yelling but overall I think i'd have to go pick up this game just to support my boys of AC/DC!

I agree with comment 4. Being an old git, I remember when the UK first got a taste of those Down under guitar slingers.

Punk was in full swing at the time and ordinary blues-based guitar rock had turned the volume down and gone decidedly Middle of the Road. Some mates of mine were in a punk band and had a warehouse rehearsal room with a big PA set up and during a beer break we were listening to stuff as you do. Someone stuck a copy of 'Let There Be Rock' on and we all nearly dropped our beer!

Up to that point we didn't believe there was anything around that could touch punk for energy, barring the fledgling Motörhead (who all punks thought were amazing anyway) and then... Bam!! Not only did AC/DC make old school guitar rock sound relevant again, they tore it a new arsehole!

Clearly nowadays their contribution has got lost a little with all the amazing rock/metal bands that came after, but I truly believe they lit the blue touchpaper on the NWOBHM firecracker that exploded a year or so later...

That's pretty cool! But some of the other game pieces it needs are a Gibson SG, a Gretsch, a flat cap, & a woman who looks like she's "42-39-56"! A little "Rosie". Some slot machines, a dog with a bone, a knife, a bullet, a missile, and a fly on a wall. I know I'm digging deep a lot, but you could really go to town with this game!

And to Gytrash: "Let There Be Rock" is my favorite AC/DC album!

everybody is entitled to their own opinion, even if it is WRONG!!! AC/DC is probably one of the greatest metal bands of the 70's and beyond. Yes, Bon Scott had soul to match his vocals, but Brian was just what the band needed to go into the 80's and beyond. I think that they are highly under-rated and should be up there with KISS and other metal icons.

I really don't think the issue here is whether AC/DC is good or not, I happen to like them, but I will firmly state I will never spend a cent on a freaking board game just because it happens to have their name or likeness on it. This is what folks mean when they say "Selling Out". The music might keep, but AC/DC Monopoly? Sorry, no thanks.

Why are we dissing this band? O.k. they are not the clash. But compared to other bands in their genre who is better? They have a very melodic quality that some rock bands don't. They also are the creators of three or four songs that will be played on the radio as long as humans remain on earth. Great shows, great sound... what else is there?

I understand many people do not like AC/DC but I don't care. As far as I am concerned I would rather listen to them than any other band. They have never sold out. Their music is hard driving rock n' roll, heavy, bluesy rock n' roll. If you're lookin' for a ballad you need to move along. If you're lookin' for them to take up the latest music trend, move along, but if you want one hard rockin' song after another, have a listen. They are great live, no BS, no big light show, just 2+ hours of hard rock and roll.

Every football stadium, all kinds of movies - modern media - all use AC/DC songs! brilliant simplicity maybe but no one has ever put on a show like them - Angus Rules! "Let There Be Rock" may be the greatest rock album ever made. Kiss is an overrated garage band that used make-up and flames to hide horrible music. AC/DC never went "hair-band" like the "lick it up" boys. It will be interesting to see the Board game and what is Boardwalk! The Clash? Who?

But to say ACDC are overrated is just BS! I wouldnt class them as metal, but hard rock band! Hell yes! They recently completed one of the biggest world tours any band would be jealous of. Arena after arena filled with tens of thousands of fans from the age of 5 to 80! If this isnt evidence they are one of the biggest bands on the planet, i really dont know what is. If you still doubt it, go to one of their shows, or watch some live footage. There isnt another band that I have seen who have been rocking like for that long! (I may be biased being from Australia, but hey they dont even live here anymore so that doesnt count)

I'm all for a legendary band like AC/DC making money, but surely there is enough loot to be made in the realm of t-shirts, merchandising and show tickets without having to resort to a board game. Putting a rock band on Monopoly is cheesy and turns them into a bad parody of themselves.
