Disturbed To Go On Hiatus After Mayhem Festival
Chicago based hard rock outfit Disturbed will be placing themselves on hiatus after they finish performing at this year's Rockstar Energy Mayhem festival according to lead singer David Draiman, citing unspecified personal issues within the group. He claimed that the band has no plans to tour in 2012 and that they have no immediate plans to regroup after the Rockstar tour.
Speaking to Idaho radio station KQXR, Draiman stated: "We don't know what we're doing... We're not gonna do our own thing either. This is gonna be the last tour that the American people get to see us in for a while, if not indefinitely. We have some things going on internally, we have some personal things going on. So I don't know. It's hard to tell."
More information on the situation will be revealed as it becomes available.

Saw these guys at the first mayhem-fest. Guy couldn't sing worth a crap, always had to stop to catch his breath. VERY un-entertaining.
You'd think that with the name of "Disturbed," the band would fit well in a heavy metal festival that's preempted by the term, "Mayhem."
Nope.
I saw them back at mansfield, that actually being the second time total. They deserve a break. Maybe Sully too, since he went from his solo tour earlier this year to touring with Godsmack, which is obviously much more demanding. Everyone deserves breaks after working hard.
I'm not surprised, I've seen Disturbed 2 times and both times they weren't as good live as I thought they could be. David seems to be obsessed with using big words and confusing people, but he surely can't sing. It'll be a good farewell if they go out right now, goodbye Disturbed.
They started off as a sh**ty nu-metal group, but 10,000 fists and Indestructable were pretty good hard rock (not really metal) albums. Singer just can't sing worth sh** at a live show, what sounds like a high on their CD sounds like a nasally whine at their live show.
I would like to learn more about their "personal issues" causing this problem though, should be interesting.
Whatever's going on with
David and the guys, I hope things work out,
and Distrubed will come back stronger than ever... ^_^
Also,
is anyone else annoyed with
the negative comments ?...
If you don't like the band,
then don't even bother reading it...
Everytime I see someone posting
a negative comment about a band,
it reminds of when Metallica went after Napster,
and a ton of fake-fans walked out on them...
If you're a real fan, you're a fan for life,
and no one can argue differently...
I saw them on their 1st 2 tours of Australia. The Sickness tour was wicked! Small venues and they were only there for the emusic at that stage it seemed. The next was outdoors with Korn and hatebreed. Their last couple of shows over here ive been told were really into their production which is cool, but seemed over reheased a bit and relying to much on fireworks and lights. Davids voice just isnt what is was either (which happens with many bands). A good hard rock/alternative act they are - not really metal though.
there is a god, bout f'n time they gave up, they showed potential with the first album and then couldn't evolve from there. i actually got suckered in to going to two concerts over here in little old NZ (yeah i know I'm a dumba$$), the tour to support the first album was ok, but then they came back and did the same show and said the same stuff, no emotion, no connection to the crowd, no solo's.....just pretty much like listening to the cd's.
I'm sorta sad at this. I thought most of there albums were pretty solid up till Asylum. That album kinda lost it for me. Some ok songs but not that good of an album. At least I saw them live once at Mayhem sunday. They weren't the highlight but the show wasn't bad. If they don't come back farewell.
just saw them in aus a few months ago and they were really good. shame they seem to have deteriorated over the last year, the internal things might be playing a big part in their performances, because when i saw them they were energetic as and davids voice was spot on.
Having never been a fan,the news of thier hiatus has no effect on me. Had the chance to see them Sunday night, but i bolted for the exits along with a few thousand other people after Megadeth. Kerry King said it best 5 or 6 years ago,"todays Godsmack or Disturbed fan is tommorrows Slayer fan". Im sure Disturbed was a gateway band for a lot of people,i'll give them credit for that. Disturbeds fans remind me of Manson fans. I saw one simpleton wearing a trench coat in the 88 degree heat at Mayhem Sunday.
@#19: No i'm not annoyed. Negative comments are just as important as positive comments. Also, I don't believe in blind loyalty. Metallica turned their back on me and thus I just kept walking. I refuse to support the empty shell that Metallica has become. "A fan for life" is nothing more than a sheep following the heard. There is so much good music out there that to me it's just stupid to go spend my hard earned money on a steaming pile of sh!t like St. Anger when there is an Ashes Of The Wake sitting on the shelf. Get a clue fan boi. People don't always see eye to eye, and if reading negative comments hurts your feelings maybe you should grow a spine and rebut the negative comments with your own positive comments or GTFO. Make a case. Don't sit there and cry about it because nobody here will give an ounce of compassion. There's no crying in metal fvck face.
Mixed feelings about this one. While I never cared much about Disturbed, they have talent and they made their career by writing catchy tunes. Nothing wrong with that.
I guess the thing that pisses the metal community off is their "metal" image, while they're definitely not metal. But I personally changed my view on the band after seeing an interview with Draiman. All through the interview Draiman referred Disturbed as "hard rock", and NOT ONCE as metal. So, it's not their fault how their label has decided to market them.
Agreed with BG, for once ;)
A Dan Donegan project would be great! He's got the riffs!
HAHAHA!! at post 33.
BG, yea you don't believe in blind loyalty. That's cause you believe in blind greed!! HA!!!!!! See what I did there?.........ok let move on.
Ya know I don't really get why half the people who commented on this felt the need to say: "Oh Disturbed is going on hiatus? Oh that's sad, or that's awesome..........oh yea but they're not really metal so......"
I don't get why that matters but whatever.
Oh Blind, I cry because of how awesome metal is. But that's good crying. Not "I'm a giant fag please rape my face" crying.
R10 I saw that dude in the trench coat too! It just p***ed me off seeing it. I thought "dude take the coat off you know it's fvckin' hot don't be a retard." But I just kept seeing him walk passed wearing it the whole time.
I wanted to make a sign with your name on it and carry it around and see if you saw it but I got soooo shot when the sun came out lol. I bet I saw you at some point or another though.
Trust me Z,that dude in the trench coat wasnt the most hideous sight i saw. I literally saw a shirtless,400-500 pound hairy dude wearing a teeny bra. I almost barfed up the nasty cheeseburger i ate there. Yea,im sure we probably crossed paths a few times there. Good show though, worth the 35 i paid. Good performances by pretty much every band.
I'm so glad I didn't see that guy R10 haha. I was already about to die from heat stroke, that probably would've killed me. I survived without food though. When I found out there was a water fountain that's how I got through. Then I went up the street to Micky D's after.
Oh dude it was a great show. I don't think any bands disappointed me. I'm getting lawn tickets from now on everytime I go there. Totally worth it and I got to lay down lol.
I always considered this band to be ok. I saw them at Uproar and they weren't too good live, everyone just standing about, didn't look like they were having fun. I always considered them hard rock instead of metal. Some catchy songs, but a hiatus with this group won't make me sad
Just saw them in Holmdel, NJ Wednesday night. Seen them many times before, they were not good. Decent show, big special effects, lots of fire, but the vocals were forced - he had a huge attitude, c***y to a fault, not engaging in any form to the audience, no encore, just ended with the old standby hit, played for 60 minutes and left. Complained that the venue didn't have a c-pit - how could you see us. Godsmack blew them away and I can't believe I just said that. This article answers a lot of questions we had when leaving the show Wednesday. Very sad - they have a shot to be true legends, "humility" is not an adjective that describes Draiman. He will regret this. He is hurting us fans.
definitely sad news to me. I am more of a blues/rock fan so disturbed is about as hard as I go when it comes to rock. I am going to Mayhem fest in Pa today so we'll see how it goes. Back when X-Fest was around and was a one day concert, disturbed rocked the S**T outta the stage.
Draiman is a rude little btch. I saw them way back in the day when they had the potential of being okay. Dude is a shtty asss front-man, for sure. Can't sing a note, except that oooh-whaa-aahh-aahh-aahh sht, which i admit was original, but please. i am personally in agreement with everyone on here that doesn't suck and is quite please with this awesome news. Big Evil gay anus face on comment 19 is a superfag. are you serious, dude? go paint an asphalt street with your face blood. douchebageater.
Man, this sucks. Sorry, but I've always been fan- though I would consider them more hard rock than metal, they, along with Rob Zombie, Godsmack and Slipknot, are one of the bands that first got me into heavy music. I thought all their albums were pretty good, except for Believe. Everyone needs a break, but if they don't come back, I'll miss 'em.
