Coheed and Cambria Bassist Michael Todd Arrested For Armed Robbery of Walgreens
TMZ.com reports that Michael Todd, the bassist for the band Coheed and Cambria, was arrested for armed robbery after he allegedly held up a Walgreens by claiming he had a bomb. And this all went down right before the band played a show.
According to police in Attleboro, MA, Todd showed a pharmacist a cell phone note that said he had a bomb and demanded Oxycontin. He made off with six bottles of pain pill and fled via taxi. Police were able to track his cab to the Comcast Center where Coheed and Cambria was set to open up for Soundgarden.
Michael Todd was charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of prescription narcotics. He is being held on $10,000 bail and will be arraigned on Monday morning.
July 10th was the last day that Coheed and Cambria was scheduled to perform on the Soundgarden tour.

I actually really enjoy this band, and for its non-heavy material more than the heavy stuff. They're perfect to put on when the extreme metal starts to give headaches from constant spin lol
Either way, this shocking. But then again, it just goes to further prove that you really can't believe anyone these days.
This doesn't bother me whatsoever. I lost all respect for them when I saw them on tour with Trivium and Slipknot. A stadium filled with metalhead's and the band get's booed off the stage, they cut their set short and the drummer get's off stage and punches the guy next to me, a hardcore knot fan, all because dude was flipping them off their entire set. As a drummer myself, thiese are things you simply just don't do. Pathetic.
Everyone has their own tastes and that's cool, I understand why Coheed isn't for everyone and why most people who only listen to just death metal or such would not like them.
Extreme and abrasive metal gets a thumbs up from me before anything else, but it does get boring for me after a week or so of just listening to Owen Hart, CTTTOAFF...ect. Thats why I like to balance everything out with stuff like Porcupine Tree, Katatonia, Coheed, Over The Ocean. Stuff that has heavy elements, but also has alot of other styles thrown in.
Either way, its still a shame that drugs have taken over another life. Especially since Todd has had similar problems in the past and claimed to have beaten them. I feel genuinely sorry for himself and the band. I wouldn't want to see anyone get caught up and those themsleves to addiction.
To drummer1 : That is because Coheeds drummer is Chris Penne...the beast who previously spent years on drums for The Dillinger Escape Plan. I like Coheed for the most part. Their bass player f**ked up big time here though. He's looking at almost certain jail time and most definitely a future without the band that he's been in pretty much since their inception.
we're they booed when opening for soundgarden on this tour? did ben shepherd threaten to kick the audience's a$$ or spit on them? seems like every opening act that soundgarden ever had was booed at some point of a tour by the crowd. they really have poor taste in music.
Well they're not gonna keep him in the band anymore. Funny thing too because I know a guy who actually went on tour with them when he got back into the band after coming out of rehab. The guy had to stay with him at all times to make sure he wasn't gonna relapse. But that was like 2 years ago.
I guess he's still fvckin' up. Oh well.
thats the truth R10. After2nd stage it all went downhill im afraid. Things looked bright, the afro sporting lead singer, different sounding voice(right Serj?). Another band from that era Open Hand had a good 1st album The Dream and then put out a qotsa rip off.....coulda been 2 solid bands from the emo screamo whatever u wanna call it cuz i have a face piercing era.
I hear what your saying Rapture, but no,this dudes dope sick. Made the front page of the Boston Herald today, page 2 in the Globe. This dudes fvcked, admitted to cops of charge Sunday, plead innocent yesterday. Dudes lookin at 10 plus at Walpole Correctional,a home for really bad people. Maybe if he's lucky,Whitey Bulgers his "cellie". Dudes calling New England home for a while. The band had a replacement waitin in the wings, guess they anticipated potential problems. Oh well,he shoulda sent out a roadie, oxycodone would have been available at the venue. People and thier fvckin pills......

Wow! Thats pretty damned crazy! Not to make light of a sad and pathetic situation, but in the old days of metal the "goodies" were included in the bands rider. Or they sent a roadie or something to score something for them. How times have changed.
