Anal Cunt Frontman Seth Putnam Dead of a Heart Attack At Age 43

Following speculation around the net it has finally been confirmed through Anal Cunt's publicist Kim Kelly that the band's iconic and extremely controversial frontman Seth Edward Putnam has passed away. The singer, who was age 43, succumbed to a suspected heart attack with no other details being released to the press at this given time. Kim Kelly commented on the passing of Seth Putnam by saying:
"Yes, it's true. Seth Putnam, one of the most infamous musicians that extreme metal has ever seen, the grindcore GG Allin, has passed away due to a heart attack.
"I handled all the promotion for Anal Cunt's last album, 'Fuckin' A,' and Seth was always happy to oblige any request I sent his way. The band had been working on a new album before his passing, so chances are his musical career's epitaph has yet to be inscribed.
"I want to remind everyone that no matter how outrageous and controversial his musical career has been, Seth was still a human being with friends and family that loved him. I'm hoping that the Internet will remember that. This is a very sad and trying time for those that knew him, and the last thing they need to see is an outpouring of message board hate. The man lived and died by his own rules; if anything, respect him for that."
Throughout Seth Putnam's career he has played in 17 separate bands, performed guest vocals on Pantera's "The Great Southern Trendkill" and released 10 studio albums with his trademark band Anal Cunt. A new Anal Cunt record, titled "Wearing Out Our Welcome," was set to debut this year but the status of the album is unknown at this time.
Anal Cunt finished a North American tour in April, and Metalunderground.com managed to snag an interview with the band's hilarious/ultra-offensive vocalist. The interview, in which Seth talked cock rock and leopard pants, can be found here.
Humorously enough, Anal Cunt tracks managed to make their way into both our pro-love and anti-love Valentine's Day articles this year. Anal Cunt also recently released a tribute to cock rock titled "Fuckin' A" (reviewed here).

If you guys haven't already, I suggest you check out an episode of the Metal Injection Livecast which featured Seth. He forgets to call in and the livecast hosts call him like half an hour later, where he actually admits to waking up from a coke (?) binge. It's hilarious. Sad to see the man go like this, but can't say I'm surprised.
Metal loses an architect, firebrand, pioneer, jester and of a realm swollen with followers--a king. I remember the first time I heard AC nearly laughing myself sick.
R.I.P. Mr. Putnam.
BTW "Wearing out our Welcome" came out some time ago. More of the same of course, but it's out there.
Now Playing: AxCx -- "Guy Lombardo"

I did enjoy his music and humor.
His death, that sucks, I guess.
Am I supposed to cry?
The guy pretty much hated everyone and life, so he achieved his goals. In this respect he lived a fulfilling life, which is always a good thing. If we can learn anything from him, that is to go out and achieve whatever we want.
May you rest in peace, Seth, or spend a miserable eternity in Hell, or just rot in the ground-- whatever it is you were hoping to achieve in this respect.

we (limited appeal records) have been working on the "wearing out our welcome" vinyl all week, we are still doing it now even though we are incredibly sad about seths passing. he was an easy target if you did not know the man, but if you did you would see he was a funny and genuinely nice guy. rest in peace seth- nobody can replace you...
A portion of "Wearing Out Our Welcome" is in fact available for download online, but an "official" pressed release is still on its way.
Regardless, Seth Putnam is much respected and loved by the metal community for simply not caring about what anyone thinks about anything. His rules are no rules. If you didn't like Anal c***, he thought you were gay. If you liked Anal c***, he thought you were gay too.
R.I.P Seth! At least you lived life the way you wanted to. What else could someone ask for really?

I knew Seth personally, though we weren't very close friends. But, he was always a good guy to me, and never had a big head. Despite it all he was a pretty down-to-Earth guy. His many ex-bandmates (some of whom are also my ex-bandmates) are probably pretty torn up right now. Can't say it comes as a shock, but it's still a bummer. So it goes. RIP Seth.
goddamn, ya head to the woods for a few days and come home to find that yet another one has bit the dust....what a deal we got goin on in METAL over the last 18 months or so
was never a fan of the Cvnt band, and really don't have much sympathy for fvcking addicts that hate life, but the dude laid down some wicked screams on Trendkill
I'm drinkin Spaten's Optimaters right now, and I'll crack a fresh crisper and throw on the Southern Snake in your honor Bud
May where ever ya are be a happier place than you found this Good Earth to be...
NP---The Geat Southern Trendkill...Fvck Yeah!
Tragic that a guy so young died prematurely, but he always flaunted the fact he over indulged in the coke,H,booze and pills. Pretty self destructive, even after his coke/booze/pill induced coma. He lived and died like GG! Feel bad for his family, but his death didnt shock me. Apart from funny song titles, and funny lyrics i never got into AC. Too many other great crust/ grind bands from Boston like Disrupt and Toxic Narcotic to ever take AC seriously. NP: Disrupt/Domestic Prison

i bought an anal c*** cd out of mrr back in 92', i thought the picture was cool. when it came in the mail it blew me away. inside out. i loved that f***er. even if love is gay. crack heroine coke speed. dont judge him to hard. drugs are fun. but i will miss a.c. like g.g. and el duce. these people are not what society wants them to be. and i think that makes them all the more human.

Holy hell...
I never really got into AC, but I always thought Putnam's sense of humor was strikingly classic. The man wasn't afraid of doing or saying anything regardless of the controversy that would arise. He had a lot of courage.
R.I.P.
