Judas Priest is rumored to play the season 10 finale of "American Idol" tonight (May 25, 2011) at 8 PM EST on Fox.

Eliminated contestant James Durbin previously performed a cover of the Judas Priest track "You Got Another Thing Coming" on the March 1 edition of "Idol." Aerosmith singer and "American Idol" judge, Steven Tyler stated this was the first time a contestant performed a Priest cover.

In other Judas Priest news, the members of Judas Priest participated in a press conference yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, May 24) in Los Angeles. The group, which includes newest addition Richie Faulkner (Lauren Harris, Dirty Deeds), answered questions concerning their forthcoming "Epitaph" U.S. tour, as well as formally introducing Faulkner.

This would be awesome for Priest and Metal overall. Maybe some metal recording artist can make a few bucks from the American Idol iTunes buying audience.

Everyday this story isn’t told begins new tragedies around the world, that’s how important it is for you to hear it. Just released “ Steven Tyler’s Secret Past” is an absolute must read. This true story will keep you on the edge of your seat taking you into the dark world of Steven Tyler, the Mafia bosses who managed his career, and the very strange tactics used to deploy Aerosmith to the top of the world’s rock and roll scene. It’s a story of struggle and hardship, and overcoming great odds against enemies who’d stop at nothing to get their way. A few simple mistakes at the beginning of his career and Steven was in over his head caught between the CIA and his own Sicilian roots.

Really? I see taint all the time. In fact I have a sound I wrote called Tainted In Filth. The word taint is an interesting word in general.

In fact......... "Supposedly yes we're all created equal
Then why the f*** is there so many angry people like the fans and the industry
They both got their complaints
So now I'm stuck between an a$$hole and a d*** just like a taint." - The Dirty Heads - Taint

Not exactly a metal song but it made me think of this song.

Anyway I think this is going to be the only time I EEEEEVVVVVEEERRRR watch American Idol. That show sucks a bag of d!cks. But I'm a die-hard Priest fan and support what they do no matter what. So I'll be watching for the 5 minutes they're probably on and then immediately turning the channel.

I don't like the commercialization of metal because bands are no longer artists, instead they become corporate puppets. These artists lose their edge, instruments become second place to vocal hooks and people dance to it. Darth Vader shook his hips to "Enter Sandman."

As much as I don't like the music of most mainstream artists, these bands remind the record labels that true metal still exists, and at least a few bands can push millions of units. It's about time "Idol" recognized metal and did it using true metal legends, Judas Priest.

God that show is hideous....that kid is not a very good singer---poor pitch, flat tone. And them two tunes are voally the least difficult of any Priest material... Kid hacked em up pretty good

Admittedly, Rob wasn't very hot either, but still sounded better than the idol dork....and he's fvckin old! and has produced some of the best male vocals EVER in the prime of his career

Looks like new guitarist fits in alright...over copping kk style, but whatever

Zachw023....maiden and priest are 2 of the most "metal" bands in history. Both are hugely influential and have inspired countless artists in the scene today. Regardless of what clothes they wear, their contributions to metal and hardrock are immeasurable. They are legends and you should know better. Shame on you.

There are loads of great points here on previous posts.

What pisses me off the most is, these Idol shows don't create great artists, they destroy them.
TV entertainment, that's all these shows are.

All these desperate people taking part in these shows are really pissing their chances in the music biz away. They're the true "teletubbies"; There for everybody to rip them apart and to be humiliated in public.

few points:

a) WHO in this world is in a position to judge others on performance style?? Even if you had guys like Keith Richards and Jimmy Page as judges, it doesn't mean a thing; they might be the experts of certain styles, But total amateurs on others.

b) in these Idols show, what they're saying is, there's ONE way of doing things and that's that. The "one formula" into, yes, megasuccess and world domination...

That's all bullsh**. Music is all about self expression. There's no right or wrong. There's only the music and the person behind it. And people will either like it, or don't. Simple.

All the X factors and Idol shows can go to hell. And I wish they will.

@27.....come on wolf, they aint all bad....sure most of the singers with unique vocal abilities usually get eliminated in the earlier rounds and the guys who run the show are pretty close minded on the different genres youy can/cannot do......i'm nt doing a good job countering your arguement, am I..:p

The ppl who do get to the final rounds and all....well, the public loves and falls for that sh** i guess....who the f*** cares, we got our own music to listen to and die for....enough with the rants...peace.

^ no man, I wasn't complaining about the level of singers/performers. Loads of very talented people there.

I was complaining about these horrible shows.

You might be the most talented singer/musician in the world, say you go all the way in one of these bullsh** shows, You'll always be "that American Idol kid", not someone with a great talent / voice and you'll never be taken 100% seriously as an artist.

Yea WOLF you're right American Idol destroys people. In fact I think some of the losers on that show went on to have bigger careers then the winners. Partly because the winners are forced to do a certain type of music or so I've heard. Guys like Adam Lambert even though he lost got huge because he lost. But because people liked him he still got signed and got to do his own music.

I mean either way that show sucks balls.
