Megadeth Begins Recording New Album

Megadeth has issued the following announcement about beginning the recording process for the band's new album:

"The recording process for Megadeth's new album is now underway, with producer Johnny Karkazis (Machine Head, Sevendust, Staind, Disturbed) and is slated for a fall 2011 release via Roadrunner Records.

"The drum tracking for the album is scheduled to begin this week, with the entire recording process expected to be completed by the time Megadeth hits the road this summer as part of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival with Disturbed and Godsmack. Follow Dave Mustaine on Twitter and Facebook for daily studio updates!"

Additional details on the follow-up to "Endgame" will be announced as they are made available. You can also check out a trailer for the upcoming New York show with "The Big 4" of thrash metal at this location.

Dave seems to still be reaching for that big "hit" which seems to manifest as most songs starting off well, then getting to the chorus and bam it's another standard 4/4 anthem sing along. Boring - in the words of the man himself "Give me alchemy, give me sorcery, Give me wizardy!"

But yea Megadeth shouldn't do ballads. Not the right style for Mustaine. Keep it heavy. Other then that the album was good. I'm not really into old Megadeth. Must respect for all the old albums but I'm way more into the newer stuff anyway. System Has Failed is one of my favorite albums. Back In The Day DUCK DODGERS!!!!

I remember reading somewhere (in Guitar World mag I think) that this album or the next album will be the last Megadeth record. But he's said it before. I think it might be serious. He talked about it in length in the article saying after he'll put down the Mega reins and focus on solo stuff which I won't care about.
Figured that'd be a nice relief to hear HR. But for all I know he could just be blowing smoke out his a$$.

Dave is such a pr1ck that it makes it hard for people to like his music. There are one off's on all of their albums that I like (particularly like Darkest Hour because it's about Cliff and it's well written), but on the whole those 2 are the best Megadave ever did. Just one man's opinion of course.

Oh and ZMA, I agree Dave & co. should try to add some newer material into the setlists. Some songs such as "Burnt Ice" "Washington Is Next" "Back in the Day" and "Blackmail the Universe" would be great to hear live.
