Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) is admitting that not only did he fall off the wagon in 2008, but fellow toxic twin, Joe Perry also joined him while they attempted to record a new album. The way Tyler tells it is that Joe was snorting so many prescription drugs he was unable to play guitar. Note that contrary to rumors, snorting non-prescription drugs does not enhance playing guitar…

With eight out of thirteen tracks completed, Sebastian Bach (ex-Skid Row) is expected to have a new album released in the Summer of 2011. Bach is promising rock and roll with clean vocals and lots of screaming. All signs are pointing to Sebastian putting his “country music” years behind him. It appears everyone has agreed to just ignore this and make believe it never happened and that’s fine with me...

After attending classes and making a donation to M.A.D.D., Vince Neil (Motley Crue) is fully clear of his DUI charge. Neil will have the weekend to rest and then appear back in court on Monday for battery and disorderly conduct charges. For those keeping track it’s: Vince Neil 2, Lindsay Lohan 2 for number of court appearances in 2011. The good news is both are below their annual average, the bad news is we are only one-third through the year…

This week a pause from the chuckles, fodder, and entertainment the stars of the eighties often make look easy (even today). Inspired by Jon Bon Jovi’s latest ventures, the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation and Soul Kitchen – a pay what you can restaurant, let’s take a look at ways (other than music) the eighties rockers are contributing. Sure, it’s easier to spread the wealth when you have the monetary power, but it’s also true that every little bit counts and nice to see some of the stars often most known for their tattoos and loud shrieks setting an example. Note that this list is only a sampling of charities and not meant to be a comprehensive list by band, member of a band, genre of music, or specific charities:

Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue, SIXX:AM): Running Wild in the Night (a branch of Covenant House that assists runaways and gets drugs addicts help). Proceeds from Nikki’s book, The Heroin Diaries, as well as personal items he has auctioned off continue to fund this program.

Bret Michaels (Poison): Amercian Diabetes Association, Diabetes Research Institute, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Skylar Neil Memorial, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Dee Snider and Twisted Sister support the March of Dimes, which improves the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality through research.

Ozzy Osbourne has been linked to several charitable foundations including Children in Need, Save the Children, Starkley Hearing Foundation, and the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program.

Vince Neil (Motley Crue): The T.J. Martell Foundation which supports AIDS, leukemia, and cancer research and the Skylar Neil Memorial Foundation named after his daughter who died from cancer in 1995.

Tommy Lee (Motley Crue, Methods of Mayhem): PETA, Project HOME.

Slash (Velvet Revolver): Children’s Defense Fund, L.A. Youth Network, Whatever It Takes, and many other charities focused on child care and assistance.

Axl Rose (Guns N Roses): Various cancer charities and foundations.

Duff McKagan (Loaded, Velvet Revolver): PETA. Okay, so this one made the list based on the now infamous “Ink, Not Mink” photo Duff did along with his model wife. Go ahead, Google it, I’ll wait…

David Lee Roth (Van Halen): The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Sammy Hagar (Chickenfoot): Blessings in a Backpack and The Salvation Army…

Gene Simmons (KISS): The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, an organization dedicated to identifying, funding and conducting basic pediatric HIV/AIDS research…

Jani Lane (ex-Warrant): Various Diabetes and Cancer charities.

Jon Bon Jovi and Bon Jovi, founders of the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation (fight homelessness and combat issues that force families and individuals into economic despair) as well as contributors to Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Clubs, Project HOME, and many more charities and foundations.

And with that, The Rockstar Ramblings will be taking an early summer break. Thank you everyone for reading and your comments. I will continue to contribute in other areas of MetalUnderground.com and return in July with The Rockstar Ramblings.

Everyday this story isn’t told begins new tragedies around the world, that’s how important it is for you to read it. Just released “ Steven Tyler’s Secret Past” is an absolute must read. This true story will keep you on the edge of your seat taking you into the dark world of Steven Tyler, the Mafia bosses who managed his career, and the very strange tactics used to deploy Aerosmith to the top of the world’s rock and roll scene. It’s a story of struggle and hardship, and overcoming great odds against enemies who’d stop at nothing to get their way. A few simple mistakes at the beginning of his career and Steven was in over his head caught between the CIA and his own Sicilian roots.
