Machine Head is finishing up writing their new album, which will be the follow up to "The Blackening." Here's the update they posted via Facebook:
"And so it begins... Machine Head are currently wrapping up writing for their as-yet-untitled seventh album and will be entering Green Day's Jingletown Studios in Oakland, CA this Saturday, April 16th to begin recording! As if that wasn't enough, we've also got a brand new video clip to whet your appetite!"
You can check out a "Making Of" video for the new album here.

Guys I think when you release a masterwork like Blackining your allowed to take whatever time u need to follow up! Pressures on em all things considered! I remember seeing these dudes destroy small stage Ozzfest 97 ! More Things Change! Times were so differant than. They were almost considered nu metal then probably because of Mader. They've had a few blips in their catalog like Supercharger@ burning red but their last 2 have made up for it big time!
These guys are about the only reason I'm gonna buy that 20 dollar lawn tick for Mayhem. Hopefully they are headlining small stage and not on the Main stage. You all didn't see their headline with Arch Enemy? Arch have em a run for their money! Can't wait to see em on Mayhem! Worth 20 bucks alone!
ya brand, I really don't care for much of their work up to the Blackening...when that thing came along, i was pretty blase toward it based on my general perspectivetoward them
well, when i gave that thing a couple of honest spins...well, goddamn!! it is really fvcking INSANE...i now rate it as one of my all time metal favorites as an album in its entirety
i hope this record delivers in the same way, and would love to see em headline a tour
to all who dislike everything before the Blackening, please go out and buy Burn My Eyes.
R Tenney-
the tour with arch enemy, god forbid and 36 crazyfists?
that was right after the release of ttaoe's...a few years ago and arch enemy dropped off the tour before they got to chicago. but i was there. saw them the following year headline w/ devildriver. great show.
Burn My Eyes was and always will be one of the most epic metal albums ever produced. And anybody who can say that MH is not a must see live act hasn't got a fvcking clue as to what they're missing. I still love ya branded but you missed the mark on this one buddy.
When it comes to catchy metal, this band has something. It's genuinely hook-laden and sufficiently heavy. Not my favorite straight-forward band but they certainly fill a niche in a metal-music void stuffed with mediocrity. "The Blackening" for all it's "meh" lyrics was otherwise a structurally, vocally and instrumentally sound album. I will check this one out.
nah, their older sh!t just don't cut it for me...but what the fvck ever, they could call t'Blackening a fvcking career well done!
I certainly ain't a proponent of fvcking Quantity, but rather strive for the top end of Quality, whatever sacrifices of 'contemporary relevance' need to be made along the fvcking way... to hell with the notion of perpetuating mediocrity in the interest of immediate capitalization and short term gratification...indeed, such bullsh!t has been the driving force behind sh!t music of all genres for the last 20-25 goddamned years
I'm so fvcking tired of fvcking wagon-hopping, two-bit acts that presume that since 'they've been around a long time', plying their sh!tty trade, that they are actually fvcking legitimate in the greater sense of things....nah, fvck no, and FVCK YOU ya fvcking bottom feeding sh!t shovelers
My point is that Machine Head has done quite a bit of dippy-dallying in their time, never having been quite convincing...their last record represents who they ARE, and always fvcking should have been, irrespective of the seemingly generally applied fvcking 'compulsion to release' material of whatever quality
oh, and RMetal?, I think the lyrics could certainly not be considered exactly sophisticated, but they definitely deserve a hell of a lot more than "meh"....simple words can be quite profound you know, as in your own observation of a 'void stuffed'....now see? that there is a regular goddamned brain twister! :)
Through the Ashes of Empire 03 is imo as good as Blackening. Burn My Eyes 94 is one of their best ever! The breakdowns in A Thousand Lies@ Davidians are worth the price to hear alone. So Heavy! Saw Machine Head in Sept 07 co headline With Arch Enemy. It was their Rise of the Tyrants tour. First tour with reunited Amott Bros. That's why I said its been like a million years since Blackening. So many trends in those 4 years have come and gone. The two openers Throwdown@ Sanctity are no longer together I believe. Hell new Machine Head please!
