"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Netherbird Announces Upcoming Release Schedule

Netherbird has checked in with the following update about the band's upcoming release schedule:

"Greetings all, I just felt an urge to write a bit about what is going on in the Netherbird camp! First off, let me say that 2011 will be one hectic year from us! Last year we finally got Netherbird going for real with some live shows and we are currently more ready than ever when it comes to doing more shows, we simply cannot wait! So we sure hope to be able to gig both in Sweden and abroad. Though these days it is always tricky to know when things start moving, the music business is strange nowadays, but we will keep our focus on live shows and we will always do our best to accept any gig offers we get.

"When it comes to recordings we have decided to step back to the original idea we had back in the day when Netherbird was formed: to record and release our music through the Internet. It gives us a lot more freedom to make releases the way we want them, well worked through shorter things, what was once called EP (Extended Play, a long single). So our next release will be a three track EP that will be released through the Internet. It will be made available on Spotify, iTunes, all other online stores and as a standalone free download mp3+pdf package.

"Why do we choose to do this? Simple: it makes it easier for us to get our music out, we can focus to make more numerous releases and it makes our creations available to everyone instantly. This is what we always wanted to do, to get our music out, and we see the huge figures of our download versions and that is what is leading the way. We also collect the three future EP:s into a third album that will be released also on CD for those that still want that format, all members of the band is among those that still are CD-collectors. But times have changed drastically and we now see the physical album is more a thing of the past and we have always had the idea of keeping Netherbird as a band that is keeping its focus on the future. So there will be online releases and we will collect them on CD's when there is enough material available.

Future releases (preliminary titles)
Shadows and Snow (EP, 2011)
Abysmal Allure (EP, 2011)
Twilit Funerals (EP, 2011 or early 2012)
Renaissance in Distortion (Album collecting all tunes from the EP:s, 2011 or early 2012)

"Also to be clear about the obvious question this might raise: we do not have a problem with our label, we own and run it ourselves and we got good distribution. But with a clear focus on Internet has our main channel of reaching out we can make totally free and independent choices when it comes to our releases and this is how we will approach the coming year at least.

"We are now about to enter the studio to record the Shadows and Snow EP and it will be followed by two more EP:s with a total of at least nine (9) tunes in total plus all sorts of extra tracks we will throw into the process. So you can expect Netherbird to be a very productive band in the times ahead! We are hungrier than ever and that will be evident when you hear the tunes we got in store for you!

"The format is dead, long live metal!"
