Slipknot Reveals Temporary Bassist Donnie Steele

Iowa based nine piece Slipknot has revealed that Donnie Steele, the band's original guitar player, will be joining the band as bass player on their forthcoming tour dates. Speaking on their decision to recruit Steele for the job, the band stated:

"Donnie was in the band at the very beginning, and rather than get an outsider, we thought it would be a fitting tribute to Paul to play with someone from within the family. Donnie was great friends with Paul and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate his memory than with someone who was there with us at the very beginning. The eight of us are looking forward to being onstage again and honoring Paul’s legacy with our families in Europe and Brazil this summer."

This is good, at least it's someone who was inside the knot' at one time or another and not someone who wasn't. I hope this makes the band stronger over the summer europe shows

Slipknot is a total joke, but still I have to acknowledge that they actually made a good choice by at least using a former band member to fill in for that bassist that died.

I may have outgrown this band, but any loss to the Metal scene is a tragic one (yes, they are Metal, as much as you purists hate hearing that). And its good to see progress.

Heh heh.....GOREc***. Good name sir, and I agree with your statement. Anyway. It would be interesting if Slipknot stopped wearing masks. But If not I'd still love to see if Steele will wear a mask. I hope they can get through this and that their next album in 2012 will be good.

So with a new-old member, does that mean they actually MIGHT make a possible potential return to an older, angrier sound?

Yes? Maybe? Please? PLEASE?!?!?

anon: that'll be amazing!! but i think this guy was cuddles, back from the MFKR record with old singer, anders.

which suggests that he does in fact have a mask and will wear it. but then again, i could be completely wrong and just be talking outta my anus.

I think if they introduced him as #10, with his own mask, I'd be cool with this being a permanent thing.

In a twist I could not have anticipated, my iPod (from many thousands of songs) played two tracks from their debut back to back the other day. It took me back to he silly madness of my late teens. To this day I'm still impressed with Jordison's drumming and how they manage to layer all of that input into each track.

they need to make a new studio album soon, with paul gray as their inspiration. when ac/dc recorded back in black, they did so with recently deceased bon scott as their inspiration. it worked for them.

Help me out longtime Slipknot fans. While I love the first 2 releases the last few have been pretty ho hum imo. If placed in context with the times You'd have to look deep underground for a heavier release than their 1st self titled What I wonder is why the need for masks at this point? Seems they're compentant enough musicians not to need the image. Like I said; love Self titled and Iowa. Even heard drop kudos on those in early 2000s
