According to Slayerized.com, Slayer frontman Tom Araya has been taken into hospital, which means the band's schedueled performance in Sydney, Australia has been cancelled. An excerpt from Slayerized.com reads as follows:
"Tom Araya has been hospitalized after yesterdays show in Brisbane, Australia. Reports say that the hospital is keeping him in over the night. As a result of this Slayer's appearance today at the Soundwave Festival has been cancelled. Why this has happened is not clear so far, rumors say it has to do with his surgery early last year, but these are only rumors. Keep checking back here!"

I saw them in Brisbane and they were excellent. Gary Holt was a brilliant replacement for Jeff! Great set, heard stuff I haven't heard live (Black Magic, Payback, Americon), all seemed ok then. I was on the same flight as Slayer (and Rob Zombie) down to Sydney and Tom looked a bit 'out of sorts'. I heard that it could possibly have something to do with his previous surgery, but cannot confirm.
They played an awesome set in Brisbane, so I do hope he's good for remaining Soundwave dates because they drew a massive crowd in Brisbane. The natives were certainly restless in Sydney apparently after the news of Slayer cancelling. Glad I chose to see them in Brisbane!

Thanks for review of the sp in black. Sounds like Slayer are kicking a$$ again. And hopefully the Sydney natives weren't too restless.thousands of drunk p***ed Slayer fans could be a frenzied mob only the National Gaurd could deal with. Hope they don't have to cancel too many gigs.

I was at the Sydney show.... a clip of it:

While everyone was waiting, we noticed the stage was empty. A little weird, but maybe they'll drop a curtain and Slayer will be there.... time passes, still no Slayer... bout 15 minutes into what would've been the show, this guy comes out and reads off a statement (see clip). With riot police standing by, the crowd get sh**ty. but controls itself.
We were all p***ed and a little shocked. Half concerned for Tom, half p***ed that we wont enjoy Slayer. Over the next 30 mins no real problems arised. Many bottles thrown, i think a bin was thrown, and some dude and a bunch of others tried to burn a Slayer shirt.
but overall, the majority just headed off, shocked and dissapointed, to get a spot for Maiden who was still to come....

Ear Infection? Phew! Was fearing it might have been problems with his neck. Anti Biotics and Ole Tom will be back on stage in no time. You folks from Down Under are pretty privelidged seeing the Holt Slayer shows. Its been Hanneman: King for damn near 30 years so these are pretty special shows!

Bad news. Slayer has had some bad luck for a while now. Hope Tom makes a speedy recovery. Was hoping to hear how those shows with G Holt were going.
