Am I f*** :P
I'll be going to Graspop in Belgium instead, not least because for the price of a ticket to Download, I could get a ticket to Graspop and the money plus the petrol contribution. Also, Download has had alot of problems in terms of camp security. Thefts, drugs, fires and so on.
Download is not what it used to be anyway......To many indie tight jean wearing boybands are on the bill, plus Linkin Park wouldn't play unless they headline 1 of the nights which is enough to stop alot of people turning a blind eye.......Wacken is the only festival i see fit going too.....But germany is too far away for my weekly income!
damn, it seems like u euros got alotta festivals to choose from. i don't >.> either mayhem, warped tour, and/or ultra =\ warped tour was annoying last yr, so i'm probably nvr going again. mayhem is the only metal fest i have come anywhere near me. and oz, i just gotta go to ultra this yr for pendulum ;P
Ha, you drum and bass head :P
There are ALOT of festivals in Europe. It borders on the absurd. In the U.K. alone we have Download, Bloodstock, High Voltage, Hard Rock Hell, Damnation and Sonisphere. Not to mention the other festivals like Reading/Leeds, T In The Park, Glastonbury, Bestival and the Isle Of Wight Festival.
This year I'm VERY disappointed with the lineup =-(
Over the past few years the lineup has been getting better and better in my opinion - It IS the official home of the classic Monsters of Rock festival (even though it's now called "Download" - nerdy name if you ask me).
I even went last year for the sunday show - Had a swell time, the lineup was ace. But I've lost interest in going this year I mean c'mon... Linkin Park??? - ZZZZZZZ. Don't mind SOAD but I can't see why they should headline the main stage even though it's a reunion show (and a lot of folk are talking about it). Pretty p***ed off that Avenged Sevenfold (sorry TIM), Pendulum (sorry NH), Hollywood Undead and a few other deadbeat acts are playing.
I know last year Rage Against the Machine headlined the saturday and in '09 so did Slipknot, but it's always been Download's style to have a proper classic band headline at least one of the days. There's been a lot of talk over a third headliner... There's been rumours that Van Halen might play. Many say it's not likely but if they are there then I'm definitely going!
On the other hand - Alice Cooper, Danzig, Rob Zombie, The Cult and GWAR all seem to compensate for the other bands in my opinion. My pal's even up for us going there just to see GWAR.
Sonisphere on the other hand, looks awesome and I'm pleased to be going. Same with Bloodstock.
High Voltage looks promising, too.
It's almost as if Download this year got every band I hate (except Thin Lizzy) and put them all together, to ruin what we used to call Monsters of Rock. Hahaha I'll avoid this festival and go to Sonisphere where I can see THE BIG 4! Download shouldn't even happen this year, Sonisphere stole the show this year, and probably years to come.
^^^^^^
I agree with the top 2 comments.
It's probablly a good thing it's no longer called "Monsters of Rock" anymore.
Whitesnake, ACDC, Aerosmith, Metallica - Some previous suitable headliners.
Linkin Park, SOAD, Slipknot, Rage Against the Machine, Feeder??? Hardly "Monsters".
