Ryan Mckern, vocalist and rhythm/lead guitarist of Wolvhammer, instrumentalist and backup vocalist of The Guilt Of… with Mike IX Williams from EyeHateGod, and keyboardist of PonyKiller, as well as many other projects, also leads an active solo career. His dark, bluesy acoustic music shows his great love for southern music. His most recent solo song, however, is a little different from all of that.

Being a big fan of comedy films, he has decided to make a blackened doom metal cover of “Afternoon Delight,” in honor of the movie “Anchorman” in which the song was parodied. Ryan claims, “I wanted to do a parody to show my sense of humor and irony as a metal musician because being stuck in the category of black metal, people are quick to dismiss any personality with the music. This is a fun way of saying ‘Enjoy a good song and make out.’”

“Afternoon Delight,” is available for streaming and download as an MP3 below:

I honestly am left speechless with this one. Thankfully it sounds nothing like the original, which was even more ghey than Captain and Tennille worst 70's hits.

This is absolutely sick, in a bad way. Why ruin a cute song. Hope they at least get paid the royalties for you destroying a good song. Sorry I clicked on the link.

for the love of f***. How many bands cover f***ing master of puppets every day and dont ask metallica permission? This is a metal artist covering a silly song in what he considers a silly way. Lets not get all uppity about legal issues over a black metal cover of a song about having sex in the late afternoon. It's a joke people.

Yes, I know it was done by the Starland Vocal Band. I was just using an analogy about the horrors of 70's bubble gum pop, like the De Franco Family or the Carpenters.
