Iowa based heavy metal outfit Slipknot have been confirmed as the first headlining act for next year's edition of the Europe wide Sonisphere festivals, including their only performance in the United Kingdom in 2011. This will be the band's first tour without bassist and founder Paul Gray, who passed away earlier this year.

Regarding the Sonisphere performances, Slipknot stated: "We’re looking forward to spending our summer in Europe. This tour is about us and our fans. It’s about celebrating the life of our brother, Paul and his legacy. The door is neither open nor closed. This tour is about burning down that door. See you this summer."

You sure about this, Corey? Are you sure that people actually told you about this? You can confirm this festival, unlike Slipknot's upcoming album? Are you going to call out Joey while on stage for being a lying bastard? Huh?

I kid. I look forward to their next cd as I've always liked 'knot.
