Amalgama Posts Band Activity Update

Amalgama has checked in with the following update about the band's activity:

"Just a quick update from what's happening here in Amalgama as we look towards 2011 and prepare to bury 2010. A couple big shows coming up for us, starting with December 12th here in Albany at Bogies as we open up for Taproot. The show kicks off at 7:00pm and you can get tickets by responding directly to this email or picking them up day of show at the door. Don' forget to RSVP if you're in the area and plan on coming! This promises to be a badass show.

"Additionally, we'll be on another show here at the Washington Avenue Armory in downtown Albany on January 15th. Ourselves along with 9 other great regional groups will be performing on the FYE Theater stage. This particular show is just the second in a series of concerts being organized by Ralph Renna, local hero and someone who is thoroughly intertwined in Amalgama-lore (he gave us our first shot onstage back in 2006). Tickets are available at all FYE locations as well as the Armory box office. The opportunities keep coming as we build steam heading into 2011 as a real live force once again.

"Speaking of live, last night's rehearsal was pretty damn amazing. We've been making a conscious effort to dig into the older tunes off the first album, and it looks like we'll be bringing back some of them for the next few shows. The goal is to have a varied set for each gig we do to keep it interesting for both the fans and us, too! So naturally we've been challenging ourselves on a weekly basis to really hunker down and get these songs up to snuff after being a little rusty (so many freakin' riffs, it's hard to keep track of them all). Naturally we'll also be doing all the songs off 'Amethyst' as well.

"Earlier last month, we performed on 'After Hours with Joe Bonilla,' a local program here in the Capital District. The footage finally made it to the internet and we're pleased to pass it along to you to check out for yourself. TV is a fickle medium, especially for a band. You go from being onstage with a full bore PA system to a very stripped down setting under burning hot white lights that are really unforgiving (especially to the ugly). So there was some adjustment to how we normally perform and sound but we still gave it 150%. But we had a blast, and John sat down for an interview before our performance. So check out Episode 3 from Season 4 of 'After Hours with Joe Bonilla' and let us know what you think (John's interview starts at the 15:30 mark and our performance immediately follows).

"Lastly, Brian DeFrees gave us an update on progress with the video for 'Forsaken Soldiers' and reported he is about '75% done' which is music to our increasingly failing ears (wear earplugs, kids!). Stoked is the word we'd use to describe our attitude at the moment."
